Hi,
I was hopeing maybe you could do a book sighning in Tx? Anyways I have read all most every book, and I think your a great author. And one last question: Is there going to be 39 clue movie?
Admin Reply:
Hello, Amber.  Thanks for the kind words.  I will be going on tour in March and April, and yes, I think Texas is indeed part of the itinerary, but I will know the details within the next few weeks, and I will post the schedule on my website.
As for the movie, Dreamworks has won the right to make a 39 CLUES movie.  That doesn’t they have done it yet — or even that they will do it.  It just means they have the right to.  I know they’ve commissioned a screenplay and hired a director, so we have our fingers crossed, but no details yet!

Hello, Maddie.  I will be going on tour in March and April, but alas, I don’t think Michigan is on the schedule this time.  But I will know for sure within the next few weeks, and I will post the schedule on my website.

I was wondering... Who actually owns The 39 Clues?
Admin Reply:
You do!  (If you mean the trademark and copyright, that would be Scholastic.)
Elizabeth Atya wrote on February 6, 2012 at 3:07 AM
About the Amians... I don't really think there are people who call themselves such, but there are people who support Amian.
You said anyone is welcome to expand the definition, although this isn't really a definition... I just don't think there are people called that.
Admin Reply:
That makes sense.  Thanks for the clarification, Elizabeth!

So, do you like that the Giants won? I don't really care about football, and I know this doesn't have anything to do with your books, but I'm curious.
Admin Reply:
Yes, I’m very happy, but I can’t be too loud about it, because my wife is from the Boston area and a Pats fan …

Thanks, Mr. Lerangis
I appreciate it. Hopefully my friends will understand how wonderful it is to read.

who are the amians?

I think they are fans who really like the idea of Amy and Ian having a romance.  (But anyone is welcome to expand this definition.)

Hi Peter... My son, Thorin, is doing a project at school called the wax museum. They have to pretend to be a famous author and he has chosen to be you. He has to come up with 10 facts about the author to talk about in his presentation and we have done a bit of research. I was wondering if you could send him a personal message via email that he could share with the school and parents on the day he does his presentation. (Feb. 23, 2012). Thorin has had many challenges in learning to read, but is now attempting chapter books and is very excited about this presentation. It would really be a boost for him to have something from the author to share.
Thanks,
Sonni Magyar

Of course!  Have him email me through my Contact page, asking whatever he’d like, and I will shoot a message back to him.

Hey, Mr. Lerangis (may I call you Peter?)

It's me again. I'm not asking for a spoiler, or anything else. But I'm asking for advise.
People at school tease me for reading so much. It's my number one favorite thing to do, and it always will be. They don't really understand those words when I say them. But the thing is, I never tease them on always playing on their Ipods, or watching TV too much. There are very few people in my class who like to read as much as I do. Actually, there is only about four people. It upsets me, but I try hard not to show it. But there was this one day, were I snapped in front of my whole class and started to yell at my classmate who was making fun of my friend for reading. I regret doing it, but I'M the one who got in trouble, even after they teased my friends.
Did that ever happen to you? Getting made fun of for reading? If so, then can you tell me how to avoid it or ignore it?

Thanks so much,
Madellin

Boy, that sounds like a chapter out of my own past.  Yes, that happened to me too!  I understand how upsetting it is.  Kids can be cruel.  You are very kind not to tease them, and yet they are not being kind to you.  What’s hard to see (much easier when you’re older) is that they envy you.  In some deep way, they know that you are experiencing something wonderful, and they wish they could too.  Everyone loses his or her temper once in a while, so don’t feel bad that you snapped.  You’re human.  Perhaps it wasn’t fair that you took the punishment, but it was good of you to stick up for your friend.  Just enjoy your reading and know that someday you will be richly rewarded.  People who read a lot end up being very successful in life.  And then those kids who tease you will all want to be your friend.  I ended up OK despite the teasing, and so will you, mark my words!

SHATTERED? oh. Who writes the last 3 books? Do you think they will make a movie for The 39 clues? If yes, when?
Admin Reply:
Read that title again, you’re almost right but not quite!  The last three books are written by Roland Smith, Linda Sue Park, and David Baldacci.
Chris wrote on February 5, 2012 at 8:10 PM
Oh... I thought shatterproof was just a hoax. You mean thats the real title?
Admin Reply:
Yes.
bennett wrote on February 5, 2012 at 6:35 PM
what is the names of the last three books
Admin Reply:
Hello, Bennett.  The title for Book 4 has been posted to Amazon.com and bn.com, so you can take a peek there.  The titles for Books 5 and 6 have not yet been determined.  With the 39 CLUES, the books are written first, and then the titles come afterward.  We get a lot of questions from fans because of fake titles posted on the web, including to Wikipedia.  But anyone who claims to have “discovered” the titles is just pranking.

Hello, again! I just wanted to tell you that in sovial studies, we're studying ancient Japan... And one of our homework assignments was on Toyotomi Hideyoshi! I told my teacher that he was also known as the Bald Rat, and she said she never knew that... Oh, and I researched him, too... Reading your books have caused me to want to research a lot more. 🙂
Admin Reply:
That’s wonderful, Elizabeth.  So glad you feel that way.  I love doing research, and I’m thrilled that my book has sparked your interest!

Hello, Aman!  Thanks for the kind words.  Great to hear from you, and don’t worry, you needn’t feel any obligation.  You are definitely taking care of the important things first, and that’s always good!
Chris wrote on February 4, 2012 at 2:11 AM
*sigh* people seem really desperate... now the "news" that Roland Smith's 39 clues book is called "shatterproof" is floating around the internet. It doesn't even sound exciting or anything like the other books, would you agree?
Admin Reply:
Really?  I like the title!  You’re right that is a departure from other titles — the first 39 CLUES book with a one-word title.  Roland is an amazing writer.  Haven’t read this one yet, but I can’t wait.

hi there! i really enjoyed your spy x series. i was wondering if another book could be made. the way book 4 ended left a possibility and i always wondered if there could be a sequel. Also i would rethank you and Gordon Korman for signing my 39 clues books (book 7 and 8 at Yorkdale in Toronto Ontario in 2010). My mom also took a picture with me and both of you. could you pass a thank you to Gordon Korman for me? i also enjoyed his on the run and kidnapped series. Thanks!
Admin Reply:
Hello, Philip!  So glad you liked SPY X.  But as of now, the publisher decided to end the series after those four books.  (Believe me, I wish they hadn’t!)  Gordon and I had such a great time at that store visit in Yorkdale.  Have you seen the 10-second video clip taken just as we were entering, moments before we met you all?  It’s here.  I will pass on the good wishes.

I also wanted to point out that in The Sword Thief, Amy says that TOOTA is Toyota without the Y, and Toyota's symbol is actually Japanese... Just a little fun fact.

Hi, Elizabeth.  Good eye!  We do like to sneak fun little things into our 39 CLUES stories.
Chris wrote on February 4, 2012 at 12:03 AM
Hmm... interesting. I did a bit of exploring and looking over the CVV items I have. When I looked at the blurb of each book, they both had a different ring of the star map on them. I re-assembled my part of the map with my cards, and they seem to be moving inwards. Medusa Plot has the outer ring (the horoscopes), Kings Ransom has the next ring (the constellations), and I have noticed that there are 4 more sections (and 4 more books) coincidence? I think not. I'm guessing the back of Dead of Night will have the next ring (The magnetic forces?) and the next three books will follow along with the NATO phonetic alphabet signs i talked about, the squiggly circle (Which contains the two signs that went along with TMP and AKR's page numbers, and 4 more signs) and finally the inner circle with the cogs. Its quite cool when you think about it....

Chris, you are one top-notch sleuth.  VERY impressive!

1. Is Cahills vs Vespers the end of the series? 2. Why did Clifford Riley guy write the Rapid Fire series?

The answer to #1 is not yet known!  The answer to #2 is because he said yes!
