Hi! I just finished reading Spy X Tunnel Vision to my boys tonight. We thoroughly enjoyed reading all four books. I actually started looking forward to their bedtime so I could find out what was happening next! After we finish each book, I always read my sons the Epilogue. After we finished reading Tunnel Vision tonight I started looking for the title of the next book to order. I couldn't find any information on it, so I was wondering if there is another book or if that was it for the Spy X books? I thought there would be another book because the three other books in the series have Epilogues that lead into the next book. Would you let me know if this book exists and if so, what is the title? Thanks!

Hello, Emily!  I wish I could tell you there were more.  I was contracted by the publisher to write Books 5 and 6, which is why Book 4 seemed inconclusive.  But after a verbal agreement, the series was canceled for reasons that were never completely clear to me, but most likely due to the financial climate at the time!  But I’m delighted you and your sons enjoyed the series, and thank you so much for writing.  Best regards.

Do you know how many pages Trust No One and Day of Doom are?
Admin Reply:
Hi, Truman!  I’m not sure they’re finalized yet, but TRUST NO ONE will be in the neighborhood of 200 pages (maybe a little more, maybe a little less), and DAY OF DOOM around 270.

Hey Peter! I just bought Shatterproof on Friday and read the whole thing yesterday. It was amazing but I have some questions.
1. All the best characters have a problem. And they get looked down on or troubled because of it. I think it's neat and I wondered what you thought about this? All the best characters have to have that in any book. If they have a perfect life, it's not realistic. Right?
2. Why do the best grown ups die? Grace died, Hope died, Lester died, Irina died, Mac died, and Erasmus died. Why?
3. I thought that Timbuktu used to be a rich city. Did it change?
Sorry I'm bothering you with these questions. Do you have any tips for a young aspiring Writer and Actor?
Thanks soooo much!
Also... Have you heard of depression? I Want to know more grown up opinions because I might have used to have it this past summer.

That's all (finally)
God bless, and long live the CHOCOHOLICS!

Hi, Susie!  Glad you liked SHATTERPROOF.  I did, too.  As for your questions:

Yes, indeed!
Very sad, isn’ t it?  Honestly, I’m glad no one died in my books.  I don’t think I could stand it!
Beats me.  You’ll have to take that up with Roland Smith!
Yes, indeed.  Take it very seriously.  Practice, practice, practice.  Surround yoursef with the best possible people who can give you the best advice.  Read voraciously and dig into life, both as an observer and as a participant!  You’ll do fine.
Depression is very serious.  It helps to be able to talk it out with friends, family, and even a professional if necessary.  The important thing is not to keep it inside.  I hope you are feeling better!

And yes, EAT CHOCOLATE!

Hi, I just completed the online mission connected to Shatterproof, where it revealed the Vesper Mole is Sinead, and I was wondering how this was possible as in the 3rd Rapid Fire book, a Vesper is tailing the Starlings and decides they are not fit to recruit, why would he tail them if she was already a Vesper?
Admin Reply:
Ah, good eyes, Nathan!  But don’t forget, that RAPID FIRE story takes place at the beginning of the Clue Hunt. Sinead joined the Vespers after the events of Book 10: INTO THE GAUNTLET.

Hey Peter!

Finally got Shatterproof! Now that I have it I've been thinking...

If Vesper One wanted anyone dead the guard could've killed Nellie right there and then. (Chapter 20, page 111) So that would mean he is only killing if it’s absolutely necessary. Like Mr McIntyre – Mac. A Vesper, possibly even Vesper One himself, may have killed him because he knew too much about the Vespers. Maybe it had something to do with the list of names Mac found before he died. (A Kings Ransom, chapter 24, page 165-167) Maybe he just wanted to spice things up. Either way, it will all come into place soon.

Go little Wizard! He survived! I wonder what he'll do. He will have to find his way home... which will be a very big challenge.

Chapter 2 in Shatterproof, why would it show texts from Vesper Four to Vesper One if it was Erasmus’s point of view? Unless he was Vesper Four which we already know he isn't.

Right now I'm up to chapter 22 in Shatterproof. Pass the kiss. I feel bad for Amy – wait scratch that I feel bad for EVAN! He doesn't know what happened in that library between Jake and his girlfriend and he doesn't even know about Ian in Korea! Wow, can't wait to see when he finds out... To be honest, the whole Vesper thing is making Amy's love for Evan fade. I bet in the Unstoppable series Evan will be out of the picture. If not then he will be just there.

This has been very interesting..
Monica.

Hi, Monica!  Glad you’re so involved with SHATTERPROOF.  I found it fascinating too.  Roland really adds some great new plot twists and a distinctive style to the series.  Exciting and also emotionally riveting.  He has a great [pl-popup content="http://www.rolandsmith.com/" title="Roland Smith" width="1000" height="640"]website[/pl-popup] and I’d encourage you to feel free to write him.  He cares a lot about his readers!

Dear Mr.Peter Lerangis,
Sorry! Long time, no typing to you. Well, finally I am a sixth grader. So I've been busy with homework and stuff like that. I heard you are writing new series. I hope its a total hit. I am eager to read it. Anywho, Did you hear about the damage Hurricane Sandy did? This was more powerful than Hurricane Irene. You are actually one of the best authors I know. I'll try more often to type to you. Okay well, BYE!
Love,
Aman

Hello, Aman, great to hear from you.  I hope all is going well in sixth grade!  I live in New York City, so I was in Hurricane Sandy.  I have friends and family who suffered damage, but our neighborhood was spared because we’re on a hill above the water.  Thanks for your kind words about my new series.  Have you seen the website?  It’s [pl-popup content="http://bit.ly/7WSite" title="SEVEN WONDERS website" width="1200" height="640"]here[/pl-popup], and I’ve been working hard on the books!  Have a great weekend.

Hiya Mr. Lerangis!

I have seen you on the MB so finding this website is AWESOME!!! I love Dead of Night. I have one question (at the moment): Who do you think (you're personal opinion, not what you might know (or not know) will happen) Amy should end up with? Are you for AmIan, EvAmy or JAmy? I think Jake and Amy are perfect! What do you think?

Thanks so much!

Admin Reply:
Hello, Cea-Cea!  I’m glad you liked DEAD OF NIGHT so much, thanks!  And honestly I think Amy should end up with Julian, the kid who lives in the apartment upstairs from me.  He’s a really great guy.

Hi -
Sorry for being so, well, brash about if there would be a 4th series. It just seems like then the Vespers would seem so useless, but I guess if I had been reading from the very beginning of the series - I've only been reading since 2011 - I'd complain that the Vespers seemed so useless.
Admin Reply:
Ah, okay, now I think I understand.  Thanks.  I think, though, that there are many elements of the larger 39 CLUES story that could be developed into another series — but that will depend on what happens in series 3.  I haven’t seen an outline yet, so I don’t how much will be resolved and what other mysteries may crop up.
Nicolas wrote on November 1, 2012 at 6:27 PM
Hi Peter It's me again, Nicolas.
1: Do you think there should be a vesper hunt series?
2: Do you think there should be a 4th 39 clues series?
3: What do you think the unstoppable cover should look like?

Nicolas
Admin Reply:
Hi, Nicolas!  (1) It depends on what happens in UNSTOPPABLE, I suppose.  (2) Sure, if there’s still a story to be told after UNSTOPPABLE, and if the fans still want to read more!  (3) I think it should look exactly the way the designers plan it!  I have a terrible visual sense and I couldn't even imagine a good cover — especially not knowing the plot of the book!
Truman wrote on October 31, 2012 at 1:44 PM
Hi,
Could you put in a word to Scholastic for me? Don't make a 4th 39 Clues series, or else Cahills vs. Vespers will seem useless.
Not that I'm not excited about Unstoppable - just the opposite, in fact.
By the way, what branch are Roland Smith, David Baldacci, Natalie Standiford and Jeff Hirsch in?
Thanks.
Admin Reply:
Hi, Truman!  Why would CAHILLS VS. VESPERS seem useless if there’s a fourth series?  I’m curious.  Also, those are good questions about the branches.  I think Roland may be a Madrigal, but I’m not sure.  And I don’t know the answer about David, Natalie, and Jeff.  I would send an e-mail to Scholastic about that, but we’re still deep in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy here in NYC, and I’m not sure if the Scholastic building has power yet.  Sorry!

Hey Peter! I was wondering 2 things:

1. Do you know what 'Unstopable's plot is?
2. Are you planning on writing any of the 'Unstopable' books? If so, do you know how many yet?

♥Mary♫

Hello, Mary!  (Love the musical notes.)  I don’t know what the plot of UNSTOPPABLE is, but there will be four books.  I was not able to write a book in UNSTOPPABLE because of my schedule with my own new series, [pl-popup content="http://bit.ly/7WSite" title="SEVEN WONDERS website" width="1200" height="640"]THE SEVEN WONDERS[/pl-popup], an incredibly exciting project that is taking over my life!
CommanderLucian12-Montego wrote on October 30, 2012 at 3:20 PM
Hello, Mr. Lerangis! It's Montego from the boards. I have a couple of questions.

-Is this the official excerpt to DAY OF DOOM?

[pl-popup content="http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/books/2012/10/25/39-clues-baldacci-excerpt/1656249/" title="USA TODAY coverage of UNSTOPPABLE" width="1000" height="640"]http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/books/2012/10/25/39-clues-baldacci-excerpt/1656249/[/pl-popup]

-You also may want to take a look at this link, especially because it involves a companion book to The 39 Clues Messageboard, and we may need an author's permission. Thank you so much!

[pl-popup content="http://the39cluesmessageboard.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:CL12Dragonflyer/I%27m_undertaking_one_of_the_biggest_projects_of_all...THE_EGYPT_RP!" title="" width="1000" height="640"]http://the39cluesmessageboard.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:CL12Dragonflyer/I%27m_undertaking_one_of_the_biggest_projects_of_all...THE_EGYPT_RP![/pl-popup]

-And on the message board, we've pretty much figured that the series is coming to an end, especially since David B. said:

"I couldn't pass up the opportunity to write the sixth and final book in THE 39 CLUES series"

NOTE: He didn't say Cahills VS Vespers, he said the WHOLE series

Thank you so much for the seconds of your life you spent reading this! 😛

-Montego
Admin Reply:
Hi, Montego!  Yes, that is the official excerpt for DAY OF DOOM.  Thanks for the companion book link.  I’m no legal expert, but if you were to publish a book and charge for it, you would need to get permission from Scholastic (not the authors).  If you were to just write this for yourselves, like a fanfic, that would be fine.  And no, David Baldacci meant the last book of the CAHILLS VS. VESPERS series.  There is going to be a third series, called UNSTOPPABLE (info [pl-popup content="http://bit.ly/PW_Unstop" title="UNSTOPPABLE" width="1000" height="640"]here[/pl-popup]).

Hello, Pedro!  (1) Thanks so much for the invitation, but book tours are set by the publishing companies, not by me.  I just go where they tell me.  However, I do visit schools all the time when invited by teachers, librarians, PTA people, etc.  Information about that is through the “Author Visits” link above!  (2) I like writing the 39 CLUES because it’s fun to think of surprises, puzzles, and exciting action.  I enjoy research into history, and I love working with the other amazing authors, who both challenge me and make me laugh.  And it’s fun to tour the country and meet so many fans of this wonderful project.  (3) Probably THE DEAD OF NIGHT, because I feel closest to it (published just this past spring).

Hello!

I really loved The Dead of Night! The 39 Clues are so much fun to read; they make me think a lot. I have a whole collection on my shelf!

That really wasn't a question. Wait, you said that you started working on The Dead of Night in 2010? That was 2 years before it came out! Wow! So that means that the last The 39 Clues:Unstoppable book already has a rough draft? I mean probably. That is amazing!
Admin Reply:
Thanks, Aurora!  Don’t forget, I said I STARTED working — which means doing research, taking notes, sketching out ideas.  I didn’t have a first draft until long after that.  So at this point there is a first draft of the FIRST book, I believe, but the other authors are in various stages of thinking, researching, etc.

Hi, Peter!
I have a few questions for you!

1. What was your favourite 39 Clues (Can be C's Vs. V's or The Clue Hunt.) book you've written?
2. Do you know if there will be another series after Unstoppable???
3. Um, do you have a favourite 39 C's character? If so, who?

~Katie
Admin Reply:
Hi, Katie!  Let’s see, that would be (1) THE DEAD OF NIGHT (probably because it’s the most recent!), (2) way too early to know that!, (3) Definitely Buffy the wonder dog in THE SWORD THIEF.
