I have read your Spy X books and your 39 clues books and I LOVE them! I have two questions:
1) Who is your favorite character in the Spy X books?
2) Who is your favorite character in the 39 clues books?
I love those books a lot. Thanks for writing them!
Anna

Hi, Anna!  Wow, it’s a funny thing — when people ask me who my favorite character is, it’s almost like being asked who my favorite child is!  Yikes, I couldn’t possibly pick.  That’s kind of how I feel about the characters in SPY X and in THE 39 CLUES.  I really do like them all.  Some of them, like Dan, are a little bit closer to the way I was when I was a kid, but every single one of them has a little piece of me inside.  Even the bad guys.  Well, maybe not Isabel Kabra, but you know what I mean.  I am so glad you enjoyed those books, and thanks for writing.

please tell us : are Amy and Ian going to get together
Admin Reply:
Hello, Mara!  There are so many things I can share with the world — about writing, about projects, about the weather in Central Park — but this, unfortunately, is something that involves future plots of future books, so alas, I am sworn to secrecy.  So sorry!

Admin Reply:
Hello, Ansh!  Yes, I do know Roland and you should feel free to contact him at his website, [pl-popup content="http://www.rolandsmith.com" title="Roland Smith website" width="1000" height="640"]www.rolandsmith.com[/pl-popup].  Tell him I said hello!  Both he and I do many school visits each year.  The way it works is that a teacher or librarian contacts us by email or through our websites.  (Roland’s author visit information is at the top of his homepage.  My information is available via the link at the upper right.)  Thanks for writing, and I hope you’re enjoying your book club!

It's me again! and i agree that Chocolate, should be a part of the Food Pyramid.... so should Red Velvet cupcakes....and now i got a question! ( or two)
1) when is the first Chapter( or a small sneak peak) of DEAD OF THE NIGHT coming out?
2) Do Vespers have like a Tattoo on their wrists too Identify themselves as a Vesper?
3) Can you please just give a tiny hint on where Amy and Dan are going in DEAD OF THE NIGHT? like Coordination's? not that i am good at Geography... i stink at it.

Eli, out!
Admin Reply:
Hello, Eli!  OK, here’s the best I can do:
1) Dunno yet.  Keep an eye on the message boards, though.  That’s where I (and the whole 39 Clues team) like to reveal stuff like this.
2) I doubt it.  That would make it pretty hard for them to keep their identities secret.
3) Maybe that’s already happened ...  • SPECIAL NOTE:  Eli, I am adding this a few days after I first wrote you: check out [pl-popup content="http://www.the39clues.com/messageboard/show/7599" title="Peter Lerangis’s post on the Cahill Message Board!" width="1000" height="640"]this post on the Cahill Message Board[/pl-popup] for a hint to question 3.
Peter, out.

hi i'm reading one of your books called watchers war and I haveto write a book report about it that's 3-5 minutes long but I don't know what to write can you help me.
Admin Reply:
Hi, Geraldine!  Hmm, I have to confess I’m scratching my head over this one!  The problem is, I don’t really know what exactly your assignment is — in other words, what your teacher expects you to do for this report.  I also can’t figure out what sort of help you need.  So please feel free to write with any more specific questions.  Of course I wouldn’t be able to actually do the assignment for you (if I did, my sons would rise up in protest — “Hey, you never did that for us!”), but maybe there would be some ways I could help!

Vesper 1: The Leader Vesper 2: The Sheild Vesper 3: The Spymaster Vesper 4: The Scientist Vesper 5: The Manipulator Vesper 6: The Enforcer

Is this correct?
Admin Reply:
Whoa.  I know of a few Vespers who are not going to be happy this info is circulating. Good thing you cloaked your name. Be careful!

Sorry for bothering you again, but I had two more questions. 😉

1) How many pages is The Dead of Night? I heard it was 336 pages, but I've also heard 192... could you tell me how many pages it is?

2) Okay, so besides Amy and Dan, in Cahills vs. Vespers, who is your favorite character to write about?

Thank you!
Admin Reply:
Hello, Gabby!  I believe THE DEAD OF NIGHT will be the same number of pages as a typical 39 Clues book, so closer to 192 than 336.
Besides Dan and Amy?  Well, I like writing for all of the characters, but it’s always fun to write the three Kabras and I really enjoy Uncle Alistair too.  There are a few characters I especially liked writing in THE DEAD OF NIGHT, and I’ll bet you’ll be able to figure them out when you read the book.

Grüezi Peter! ( dont know whats with the Swiss german greeting)

Since i know you cant give out any spoilers cause of those vespers and also a few other reasons... I'll leave that subject alone... or the Amy and Ian question... So i'll just ask this... If you could rule the world, what would be the first thing you would change?

by the way, I LOVE YOUR BOOKS
oh and greetings from Germany!
Admin Reply:
Schöne Grüße!  If I ruled the world, I would mandate the rewriting of the food pyramid to include chocolate.

Hi Peter Lerangis! It's me again...

I am finally accepting the fact that you can't give out any more spoilers about Ian and Amy (sad face), but... I still have a question! :
Who would YOU rather have Amy end up with, and why? (In other words, TEAM IAN OR EVAN?)
Admin Reply:

great happiness in her life, in all things.  So, you see, it’s up to her!

Thanks for your kind words, Aman. You’re right, it takes a very long time for books to be published.  Usually they need to be ready many months before publication.  It’s a long process to typeset, print, bind, mass-produce, and then ship books, and there aren’t many companies who do it.  It’s hard to wait so long, isn’t it?  I feel the same way.

I know you have a Wordpress guestbook so how can you put it on my WP?
Admin Reply:
You’re right, it is WP, but I’ve just recently switched from Drupal so I’m still new to the game and have never investigated that option.  I imagine there’s some documentation on their website.

hi peter!! some day i want to be a book writer just like you. So what do i need to be a book writer??

ohh and i have more questions, whats your favorite food?? how old are you?? how many kids you have?? what's your favorite book (one that is not yours) whats your favorite hobby??? how many books have you made??
Admin Reply:
Hello, there.  To be a book writer you need a huge imagination, a willingness to work super hard, the ability to learn from experience (and criticism), and a huge love of reading.
My favorite food is chocolate, I am approximately halfway between 21 years old and death, I have two kids (both boys), I have way too many favorite books to name, my favorite hobby is eating chocolate, and I have written over 160 books.
