Hey there! I was just curious about a few things. First, how long did it take you to become an author? Second, was it hard? And third, well, actually, I have a couple more, so I'm just gonna list them,
-Is Dan officially emo? He sure seems that way, and it's bumming me out... =(
-Did the other authors and you agree on book three, (you know what I mean..) and if so, were you aware at that time that you were going to start a whole big thing about it?
-Do you actually read the stories on the messaging board? If so, which one's do you think show the most promise?
Okay, so by now I'm kinda rambling, but I have a bunch more questions for you. My last one for today is whether or not you think wtf is appropriate for 7th graders? It looks very good, and I love all of your work in the 39 Clues... (By the way, did you realize that you have 39 pages on this thread thing? Hahaha!)
-Wolfstorm102, aka Dani!! (Are you, Jude Watson, and Gordan Korman friends? It sure seems that way!)
Admin Reply:
Hi, Dani!  Well, let me take these one by one:

As for the first two questions, the best description about how I became an author is [pl-popup content="http://peterlerangis.com/about-peter/4-life-upon-the-wicked-stage/" title="" width="1000" height="640"]here[/pl-popup], and on the page after.
Sorry you’re bummed about Dan.  Imagine how he feels.
We 39 CLUES authors agree on virtually nothing, especially when in restaurants and other public places.  It’s kind of embarrassing.  Starting Whole Big Things is our middle name.
I usually read the message board in big chunks.  After collecting all the questions I’ve been asked into a handy list, I run out of time, so it’s been hard to read stories at all.
I don’t think wtf is appropriate for seventh graders, but it is very good.  And funny.
That’s a great observation about the 39 pages!  (Soon to be 40 now … )
Jude, Gordon, and I are good friends.  As long as you keep us away from restaurants and other public places.

Will RAPIDFIRE be released in the UK???

P.S. I sent you a friend request did you get it on FACEBOOK???
Admin Reply:
Actually, we authors don’t really have much to do with the way books are sold. The publishing company handles those sorts of things, so you will want to contact them via the Cahill Message Boards.  I do know that the moderator posted information about ordering the books at [pl-popup content="http://www.the39clues.com/messageboard/show/10204" title="" width="1000" height="640"]this link[/pl-popup]. Hope that helps.  And yes, I got the FB request and responded.  That is indeed my page!

Hi, Mr. Lerangis!

I have two questions:
What book will reveal the identity of Vesper One? I think that I know who it is...
About how many pages will be in "The Dead of Night"?

Oh and by the way, your autograph is proudly adorning my wall.
Can't wait for your next book!
Admin Reply:
Hi, Steele!  Well, I can’t answer the first, because that would come under the category of a spoiler, but I can answer the second, more or less.  It will be about 192 pages or so.  Hope it lives up to your expectations!

Hi! I just had one question...
who is your favorite character in the 39 clues?
Admin Reply:
Hi, Caitlyn.  Whichever character I’m writing about automatically becomes my favorite.  I’m very fickle that way …

Do you have FaceBook because I have made a Amy Cahill page and loads of people like it and I was wondering if you could like it and their is a Dan Cahill one too ( I did not make Dan's ) here are the links
Dans http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dan-Cahill/204274686275145

Hi, Lesley, and welcome back!  I am on Facebook and I’m happy to look at all pages, but 39 CLUES authors are discouraged from “liking” those pages because there are so many, and people will feel like we’re playing favorites.  But I can wish you GOOD LUCK!

Hi Mr Lerangis:)

I just wanted to ask a very very simple question....I am not really sure...but...is the 39 clues fiction or non-fiction?
Anyway,Merry Christmas:)
Admin Reply:
Hi, Nicole.  THE 39 CLUES is fiction.  (Even though it sure seems real!)

Supp???

Few questions:

Will there be a third series?
Why is Dan not the same anymore? I miss the old funny Dan 🙁
Who writes the next book?
In the dead of night, will there be some amian in it? Just the slightest bit?
Do you ever visit Canada?

Admin Reply:
It’s too early to tell if there will a third series, but if the second series is a big hit, who knows?  Dan gets some good laugh lines in Book 3, I promise, but he’s changed quite a bit since the first series, hasn’t he?  A lot of serious weight on that guy’s shoulder now, because he’s the only one with knowledge of the formula …  I’m writing the next book (Book 3, THE DEAD OF NIGHT), and Roland Smith is writing Book 4, which doesn’t have a title yet. As for Amy and Ian, I risk severe consequences if I reveal anything, as you can see from numerous earlier messages!  And yes, I’ve visited Canada a couple of times and would love to do it again.  Last year, Gordon Korman and I did a series of visits in Toronto and had the best time.

Hey!

"Alas, I never did say this crucial important plot event would be revealed in AKR."
Oh. My. God!!! So you are saying that there will be a crucial plot event?! XD

Just saying... 🙂

Actually, I just came on here to ask you if you could reveal any spoilers, sneak-peeks, or excerpts. 😀

I can't wait to read your book!

Sorry, no spoilers allowed, or I get in deep trouble!  But you bet there will be some sneak peeks/excerpts!  They will be announced in two places as soon as they’re available: on my website and on the Cahill Message Boards.  No definite dates yet, but keep your eyes peeled!

Hello Peter! Question about book 8 of the39clues, Why are some words circled? Is it part of the code you told me about? ♥39clues girl

P.S. I am loving book 7 great job!
P.S.S. I am also the39clues girlygirl
Admin Reply:
Hi, ♥39clues girl!  So glad you’re enjoying THE VIPER’S NEST!  Yes, those circled words are part of the Book 8 code, which is a different code from any of the other books (and easier!).

Hi! I was wondering how to buy the 39 Clues Rapid Fire? I live in the Philippines and I don't know how to buy it. Please help!! I want it for Christmas!! Thanks!
Admin Reply:
Hello, Princess!  I know that in the U.S., you can buy them on Amazon.com.  Is that website is available in the Philippines?  I hope so.  On the Cahill Command Message Board, Administrator Noah S posted [pl-popup content="http://www.the39clues.com/messageboard/show/10204" title="" width="1000" height="640"]these instructions[/pl-popup] on how to download Rapid Fire books to a number of different devices.  Hope this helps!

I think AJT is V1. Evidence: The circus girl said V1 had a burn. FROM THE FIRE! And, do you recognize this code? Solve: Veoqep.
Admin Reply:
Let’s see, if we replace the o with an s, the q with a p, and the p with an r, we get “Vesper.”  Is that it?
Also, you could use an alphabet substitution code, replacing each letter with the letter five spots further along in the alphabet (for example, a = f, b = g, etc.).  Then VEOQEP would equal AJTVJU.  So maybe you’re speculating that AJT is a V, with an extra JU thrown in?  Hmmm...
Well, I can’t reveal any spoilers, but you are a very observant clue-hunter (and clue-maker)!

Admin Reply:
Hello, Smriti.  Oh the guilt, the horrible guilt of not being able to provide spoilers.  Such is the life of a 39 CLUES writer.  Will the Amian crowd ever forgive us?  Alas, I never did say this crucial important plot event would be revealed in AKR.  Or if you read it somewhere, it must have been a vile Vesper impersonator!  Anyway, I hope you were able to enjoy the book, which was chock-full of amazing twists and turns.

Actually, there is one more thing that has been bothering me. I wondered if you might know about the spine colours of the later CVV books. Medusa Plot was yellow, Kings Ransom was blue, Dead of Night will be green, and I was wondering if you knew about the later books.
I like how the 39 clues books look when put side by side on a bookshelf so their spines are showing, and I was always hoping the last book would be red, and create some real contrast with the black-and-red star map. It may seem like a really strange question, but do you know what later books are said to look like?
Admin Reply:
Hello again, Chris!  I have not yet seen the cover of Book 4, although I imagine there may be a plan for it by now.  I don’t believe the other covers have been designed yet.
Chris wrote on December 16, 2011 at 9:19 PM
Umm... I think i could partly see it on the star map im building from the backs of the cards (like the thomas jefferson puzzle), and I could see the rest on the rotating star map that appears when selecting a CVV mission, along with other hidden codes about Da Vinci and Wilkes Booth.

Probably last time im writing for the year (unless your response is tempting) so I guess I'll hear from you next year in March for more secrets and sabotage.

Merry Christmas!
Admin Reply:
Ah, yes, the backs of the cards — of course!  Believe it or not, I haven’t gotten as far as you have with those, but you’re absolutely right.  Congrats.  Merry Christmas to you too.  And I can guarantee a very interesting March 2012.

Hi Peter! (I guess that is what I'm suposed to call you.)
I am a huge fan of the 39 clues! I was on the message board and came to your site through the link. I love how the 39 clues combines history into a modern, interesting book series. I am also a huge fan of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians, so I like anything that combines history (preferably Egyptian or at least Ancient,) or Mythology, (I am a Greek mythology freak,) into the modern world. This is so great that we get to contact you, you and the other authors are amazing! Thank you so much, tell all the other authors that they are an inspiration to young writers everywhere.
Good bye!
-Lindsay (however, I wish my name was Calypso...)
Admin Reply:
Hello, Lindsay!  I will happily pass your good wishes to the others, and thanks for the kind words.  With our interest in history and modern stories, we’re all birds of a feather — writers and readers.

Hey Peter,

I’m from India and I started reading the 39 clues recently. Needless to sat, I’m hooked. Your books are epic, especially The Sword Thief – I was a huge fan of Amy/Ian until I read The King’s Ransom. [Sorry, but I’ve switched to Amy/Evan. Not that I don’t like Ian; he’s a really complex character and fun to read about.]

Here’s what I think about The King’s Ransom – [pl-popup content="http://www.the39clues.com/messageboard/show/9647" title="" width="1000" height="640"]http://www.the39clues.com/messageboard/show/9647[/pl-popup]

And I’m eagerly waiting for The Dead of Night. I know you won’t disappoint. March 6, hurry up!

P.S. I love writing as well. Would you please check out my blog? The link is: [pl-popup content="http://www.zainabuf.blogspot.com/" title="" width="1000" height="640"]www.zainabuf.blogspot.com[/pl-popup]
