Hi Peter, I just stumbled upon your website and saw on your biography that you have ghostwritten for Sweet Valley Twins and High books. Can I have an online interview for my website Sweet Valley Unlimited? I hope you may grant my request. Thanks!

Hello, April!  Sure.  Send me some questions via the Contact page, but it may take me a long time to get back, depending on how many questions there are.  Happy New Year to you and your family!

Will you (or any other 39 clues authors) be coming to Minnesota? Or Rochester Minnesota to be exact?

Oh, yeah, and I hypothesized something.....Jonah is a Vesper. His little cousins gonna be released which will drive him nutso (Because he is so attached to Nellie) and he is going to have a big roll?

Oh, and Mr. McIntyre.....is he like, totally dead? And I know this is risky but......don't you think the serum would revive him? And I have back up proof that Jonah is a Vesper. (Wait, well, his dad is a Vesper.)

Uh, oh yeah, I think that Jonah and/or The Hammer likes Amy. I know you cant give out spoilers but.....just think about it.......=D

OH YEAH! I just remembered something.....do you have any control over the message boards? Cause I think it would be cool if say, I wanted to talk to just Ekaterina's or just Tomas. Or like a mailbox type thing. Once its been moderated. JanusAssassin88, you have a message.
Sorry its so long......see ya!

I don’t have any control of the Message Boards, but I will post my tour schedule there (and here on my website) in a few weeks.  I don’t know where I’ll be going yet, so fingers crossed for Minnesota.  Happy New Year to you and your family!

Peter,
Strange question for you. What is your favorite meal? This includes dessert, appetizers and drink. I'm making a fanfic and your eating a meal when Rick comes in and I was thinking it'd be cool if I had you eating you're favorite meal.
Beware the Assassins.

Appetizer: smoked salmon with capers and onions and slices of bagel.  Main course: my mother’s secret recipe for pastitsio, which looks something like the photo on the right.  Drink: black coffee.  Dessert: chocolate fondant, which looks something like the photo on the left.  A perfect meal when Assassins are on the prowl!   Happy New Year to you and your family.  Eat well!

Is it true there is going to be a 39 clues movie? Thanks!
Admin Reply:
I hope so!  I know a script has been written and a director has been assigned to the project, but other than that, we haven’t heard much!
Maddie wrote on December 30, 2011 at 3:06 PM
Hi again.I was wondering,Do you ever talk to the other authors of the 39 clues books and give each other ideas about the new books?Or if your writing a book do you just make that decision on your own? Thanks!

Just to tell you your a AWESOME author!I've read all your 39 clues books and the first of your Spy X series.
Admin Reply:
Hi, Maddie!  Thank you so much for those nice words.
Actually, no, we 39C authors don’t talk to one another about the books.  We determine the plots of our own books, and then we discuss them with our editor.  I liken this process to the scenario of seven jet planes coming in to an airport for landing at the same time.  If one Pilot 1 radioed Pilot 2 and said, “You first, or me?” while Pilot 3 radioed Pilot 6 with the same question, imagine the mayhem on the landing field!  Luckily, pilots don’t do this; instead, they all call the air-traffic controller, who schedules all the landings safely.  Similarly, let’s say Gordon and I were to discuss an important plot development and neglect to tell ALL the authors, then Jude, for example, might get started down a seriously wrong path in a subsequent book.  (Which might be kind of funny, actually … no, forget I wrote that!)  So instead we clear everything with our very own air-traffic controller — our editor!

Greetings, Peter Lerangis. Via the books I have learned of nine clues. Via the website I have learned twenty-nine. I only need the formula, and that little rat Dan knows it. He will be turned. My identity, that Cahill Linda Sue Park knows. But that will not help you. Decode the bottom to prove yourself worthy. But get me the message before 1/7/11. The clock is ticking.

Hi, Peter! I love The 39 Clues and I love your books from the series! Will be any competition between Ian and Evan in future books? I'm an Amian fan, so I'm really excited to see things like that. I can't wait for Dead of Night and I was wondering if there was anything you could tell me about it. The suspense is killing me! March can't come soon enough!

I'm not asking you to tell how he is alive but there is no way in logic that Damin Vesper is alive .So here is the question when will you revile him just a date of when not the book you will.

I LOVE BOKS! Do you have some books to share? Other than THE 39 CLUES and CALL OF THE WILD which I haven't read. Who is Vesper 1? Damien, people say, but then he'd be 505 years old! But then again, nothing is impossible. Who should you think Amy should choose? Ian or Evan? No offense Evan, but I think Ian, who's had a crush on her ever since he laid eyes on her. I LOVE THE HUNGER GAMES AND GREGOR THE OVERLANDER AND EMBER AND......... Bye!

Hi Peter! Thanks for answering my latest questions. Here are some more:

-Last night while I was studying my 39 clues card pack 4 "Man in black secrets", I realized that the !@# $%&#* ^&*! was actually a code. (Please don't delete my post because of that spoiler; viewers can't decode it until they get the key hidden in the Guide) It decoded to a incomplete message. The 09:18:56 GMT on the next page seemed innocent enough, so I'm wondering if there is another part of the code. Can you tell me?

-Who designs the cards and chooses the random cards to put into a card pack?

-Who came up with the idea of the Vespers? Was it one of the authors?

-Do you authors share your stories together, or do you keep it secret until the book is done?

-Do you like this piece:

Amy threaded through the crowded airport, keeping on her heels as her heart pounded against her rib cage. The vespers were right on cue behind them and as fast as they ran, they could not make a gap between predator and prey. Amy felt......what was the word? Kind of nervous, scared, and hunted all put together. Not like they hadn't been in situations like this before; the clue hunt had taken them all over the world, being hunted down like mice. But now there was a added sense of danger. Their former enemies were like cats, these vespers were like wolfs, taking them down. The G.P.S. in the DeOssie smartphone wasn't the only advantage their enemies had, their surveillance, everything. And that was not counting Cheyenne and Casper. They were ruthless indeed, almost killing Amy and Dan in a oxygen-less library room, in an underground cave...... Beside her, Dan ran like crazy. But the vespers were closing in. Through the crowd they raced. "We'll be fine with the crowd," Dan reminded her. But soon they came into a abandoned part of the airport. The vespers were forming a circle around them. They were surrounded.

If you do, can you please use part of it in your book? Please?

-Is Rapid Fire going to appear in the library?

Happy new year!

As for the 09:18:56 message, honestly I have not seen it yet so I can’t comment.  And the card designs, placements, etc., are done by a team of very tiny droid people in a small mossy cave somewhere north of Wisconsin, or southwest of North Dakota, although my source for this information may be unreliable.  The idea of the Vespers came about when three of these droid people were kidnapped after arranging themselves inadvertently in a V shape, but I don’t trust that source either.  It’s all very murky.  We authors do not share our stories ever, for fear of random violence in the Scholastic offices.
Seriously, I think your story is terrific — full of tension!  And no, I can’t use it, alas.  Apologies.  First, my book was finished long ago.  Second, writers cannot use anyone else’s work besides our own, ever, because our work must be original unless we are quoting from a source (usually in a nonfiction book).  But I appreciate your sharing this, so others can enjoy reading it.  As for Rapid Fire, at this point it is scheduled only to be in eBook format.  If that ever changes, there will be a notification on the 39 Clues Cahill Message Boards.  (And on the walls of certain Midwestern mossy caves.)
Hope that answers your questions!  Happy new year to you too!

Mr. Peter Lerangis? I LOVE your books. Just one question: Are the title of the 4th, 5th, and 6th books "The Pirate's Treasure", "Recovering Confidence", and "The Mastermind Reveled"? I saw this Wikipedia.

Hello, Stephanie!  Many thanks.  I’m delighted you enjoyed the books.  No, those titles are fake.  Someone is just having a bit of fun, I think.  (I believe that “info” has been deleted from Wikipedia.)  We never know the titles of the books that far in advance.  Generally they are chosen after the book is written, not before.  In fact, the titles for Books 5 and 6 have not yet been determined at all.  (But trust me, they will be way better than the ones mentioned above!)

Do you think you can give us some hints about the new book?I just can't wait until spring!!Its so intense!!Thanks!

Hi, Maddie!  Well, there are some small spoilers already posted on the Cahill Message Boards.  Jude Watson gave one away recently.  Other than that, my lips are sealed until I get the OK from the powers that be.  But keep your eyes on this website and on the Message Boards, because those are the places where the news will break first!

I am a mom and grandmother who is hooked on this series. I even turned my autistic nephew onto them. He keeps me up-to-date on when the next installment will come out. I will have to tell him about the movie coming out. We will have to go together.
By-the-way, neither one of us can afford to buy the books or cards and of course the library takes the cards out of the books (or someone already has entered them so are no longer useful).
I saw last week there is a way to use the books themselves to be able to bypass the card codes by entering the word on such-and-such page. The only thing is I don't know where on the site to get back to this provision. Can you help me, please?
I've enjoyed globetrotting with Amy and Dan, and of Nellie and Saladin. I'm on the waiting list for the next book.

Hello, Rosemary!  Thank you for writing.  How delightful that the 39 CLUES has played such a positive role in your nephew’s life and yours!  Glad you are globe-trotting with us.  I know very well the problem with the library books.  Unfortunately, I don’t know the answer to your question off-hand, but I have a message in to my editor to ask.  If I find anything, I will amend this post*, but honestlly your best bet is to write Scholastic directly by clicking [pl-popup content="http://www.the39clues.com/info/contact" title="" width="1000" height="640"]here[/pl-popup].  Hope this helps!
*Jan 3: Just heard back.  All you need to do is access [pl-popup content="http://www.the39clues.com/getyourcards" title="" width="1000" height="640"]this page[/pl-popup], with your book in hand.  (You will be asked simple questions that refer to the book, just so the site can “know” that you actually have it.)

Hi Mr.Lerangis !

How are you? If you'd ask me that, I would say that I'm doing good, and I hope you are too!

I'd just like to say that I am excited for the Dead of Night to come out ! (And everyone is just excited as I am. ) I've made my dad to read A King's Ransom, and he liked it. A lot.

This may be silly, but do you ever imagine that you're one of the Cahills involved during the Clue Hunt and in fighting the Vespers? I do, I must say. I'd imagine myself spying on Vespers and going on secret mission, but it mist be very dangerous. Very very dangerous.

Anyway, have a nice day! I hope I get to meet you one day! I am a big fan! My dad says hello by the way ! ( you and him actually share th same birthday! )

Godbless!

Jamie from the Philippines 🙂

Hello, Jamie!  Thanks for your kind words.  Yes, I often imagine myself being a Cahill — especially while I’m in the process of writing a 39 CLUES book!  Sometimes I scare myself.  And sometimes the other writers scare me.  It’s a dangerous business indeed.  Luckily it all stays inside our heads.  Whew.  Best wishes to you and your dad for the new year!

Hi! I am looking forward to The Dead Of Night. I wonder who Vesper four is. My guess is Bae Oh or Milos Vanek. The first and second books were awesome! But online the mission End Game is really hard, so I can't become a Madrigal. Do you have any advice for that mission? And can you tell me how to unreplicate cards?

-Who designs and makes the missions?

Happy Holidays!

P.S. Here's a Vesper Intercept: (Try to decode)

From: V-1
To: V-3

It's you're turn to keep tabs on Amy and Dan. Make sure to bring your knife. Casper and Cheyenne are getting restless. Meet them in Tameba*. Hope you fare better with Amy and Dan than the others, or you will be dealing with me.

*Decode with the code Amy and Dan used in South Africa (like O=U and T=V)

Hello and Happy New Year!  I’m afraid you’re already ahead of me on the missions.  You may want to send out a message on the Cahill Command Message Boards for this.  The designs and missions are made by a secret cadre of geniuses who operate in a parallel world from us authors!
The secret message sends chills!  I hope V-3 has a good time in Venice.

Olá! Peter, tenho 9 anos e li a coleção The 39 Clues na escola nesses últimos três meses, tenho 4 perguntas:

1) Qual seu personagem preferido?

2) Sou do clã Janus e você?
