for the cahills vs vespers series, why are there lots of random gibberish in the back and front covers? (e.x : Hercules, find stan) and will you come to markham?
Admin Reply:
Well, those are hints to various aspects of the series.  “Find Stan” connects with something else hidden on the cover, to point toward the location of Book 3.

Hello, Susie!  I will indeed be in Kansas City on March 29, but only very quickly, to do a school visit sponsored by Rainy Day Books.  I will leave autographed books at the store, but I don’t believe there will be a public event.  Thanks for your message and for sharing your great passion.  I prefer not to discuss religion in a public forum like this, which is more about writing and books — so my great apologies!  Hope your toe recovers quickly, and what a lovely thing you did for your aunt!  I would have been deeply touched, also, if I were in her shoes!  And as for writing, just be sure to (1) read a lot and all the time, (2) write about something you feel passionate about, and (3) allow yourself lots of time.  Sometimes you just have to sit and stare at a blank screen for a long time before an idea starts to gel.  But it will if you don’t give up.

I have not read your recent books. But I have to say that I loved your book Watchers I.D. that was the first and only work that I have read from you. It was available at my elementary school (I'm going to be a senior high school student next school year). I really loved it that I have read it several times over and over. It was such a pity that it was not popular. I tried to look for it in my local bookstores (because my mother does not allow me to buy online) and sadly, I could not find a single book from the Watchers series. Now, all I can give you is my words of encouragement that you would continue doing what you love.
Admin Reply:
Hello, Winona!  You have great timing.  You’re right, although the series was pretty popular back in the late ’90s, it’s gone out of print — but luckily, the entire WATCHERS series will be released as eBooks … today, March 20!  You can order them via the links at the right of this page!

Hello, Sir Lerangis!
I already received the card and letter! Thank you so much! 😀
As for my fan mail, I haven't written it yet because of school work and house chores hehe. I'm going to send it this Wednesday, perhaps?
Thank you very much, again! 😀 😀 😀 😀
More power!

P.S. Have you gone to any Asian country?
Admin Reply:
You are welcome, Reneilda, I’m so glad you received it.  And no, I have never gone to an Asian country.  Russia is the closest.  My son has gone to China, though, and he may be spending time there as an adult, so I look forward to going!

Hey peter!

How is the tour going? I still haven't got the Dead of Night yet. -_- Mum surprised me with a "How to Become Popular" book. She is so... annoying. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that in English I got an A+ on a story I wrote. 🙂 I used one of my stories from the message board but I changed the names. It was funny really...In stead of Amy it was me and instead of Ian I used a random guy from my class... now he thinks that I like him… Which I DO NOT! 🙂

Ciao,
Monica.
Admin Reply:
Monica, that is just fantastic!  An A+, huh?  Can’t say I’m too surprised!  Great work.

Hi Peter,
I had a good idea.
After CVV book 6 comes out we can make a 3rd series.
We can call it Prompt series.
Here are my ideas/rules.
There are 5 books.
You can do 7 chapters.
The series starts 2013.
The author picks the title.
Each book gets card and a mission.
YOU make the prompt and the author writes the story about the prompt
YOU pick the authors of books 2,3,4 and 5
The last rule is the author gets to make an AUTHOR AGENT CARD and get to reveal the title and cover on the cahill message board.
I volunteer to write the 1st book and look forward to doing it.
So, can we do it ?
Nicolas

We pick

Nicolas, you are quite an amazing enterpreneur!  I like the way you think.  I’m pretty well booked up with work for the next few years, but keep up the writing, and keep up the good publishing ideas.  You will be successful, and I’ll be proud that I knew you when!

Hi, Peter. I loved the Dead of Night, and started on March 06 night and finished on March 06 night! But I have a question: why the name of the book was The Dead of Night?
Admin Reply:
One night -- wow! Thanks for the kind words, and I'm thrilled you enjoyed the book so much. The book got its title because the final mystery is solved in the dead of night -- i.e, the very deepest part of the night. Also, you'll remember Olga Sakharov ...?

Hello Peter, it is me. I know there are many of these 39 Clues roleplays around the world, but I was just wondering. Do you actually read them? Which one are you a fan of? (oh regarding to the 39clues roleplay in tumblr: here's the motherblog link: http://39clues-rpg.tumblr.com/)

Hello,

Are you Greek? The Greek Star newspaper, the oldest continuously published Greek newspaper in the US. All things Greek are on our radar. Your name could be Greek...we're just checking...

Be well!
Maria
Admin Reply:
Yes, Maria, I am — 100%!  In fact, I have a little piece about my last name at this link.  I will reply by email!

Hi again! Is the Antarctica books for my age,11? Thanks!!
Admin Reply:
Hi, Maddie. Well, they were actually written for slightly older, but if you are a good reader and you like survival stories, you will really like ANTARCTICA. It’s a good idea to start with JOURNEY TO THE POLE before going on to ESCAPE FROM DISASTER.

Dear Peter,
I saw you at school today, you were really funny! Thanks for coming and talking to us!

Thank you so much, Rachel!  I had an amazing day today in Minnesota and I hope to come back.  You were a fantastic group.

Hey Peter,
If there is a 3rd series can you right now name how many books there would be and say the author lineup including me !
Nicolas

Hi, Nicolas!  It’s still early in THIS series, and we have heard no plans for a new one yet.  But I admire your ambition!

Peter,
I'm so excited! You're visiting my school for a presentation!! I don't know if you remember me, but I sent you my writing once. I hope we can talk =). I must say though, I have to catch up on the 39 Clues. See you in IL!
Admin Reply:
Yes, of course, Jenna!  It will be great to meet you!  I fly to Chicago tomorrow (Saturday)!

Hey Peter,
Can I write the cahill files book 2 ?
Admin Reply:
Hi, Nicolas! I believe Clifford Riley is writing all the Cahill Files books.  But I know you are an aspiring writer, and I do hope to see your name in print someday.  I will say I knew you back in the old days!
Nicolas wrote on March 16, 2012 at 11:58 PM
Hey Peter,
What were the possible names for your 39 clues books ?
Nicolas
Admin Reply:
Hi, Nicolas.  I’m not very good at pickiing titles.  The best I could do for 39 CLUES book #3 was THE SWORD COLLECTOR.  Not a very good title, huh?  It was my editor who thought up THE SWORD THIEF.  So from then on, I let her pick all my titles!
Ariel wrote on March 16, 2012 at 11:32 PM
Hi Peter,
What is your favorite book or books that you have written?
Admin Reply:
Hi, Ariel!  I love all the books I write, but I have to say the 39 CLUES will always have a special place, especially THE DEAD OF NIGHT.  I also enjoyed writing my recent YA novel SOMEBODY, PLEASE TELL ME WHO I AM; SMILER’S BONES; the SPY X, WATCHERS, DRAMA CLUB, and ABRACADABRA series; and ANTARCTICA.  Whew.

Hi Mr. Lerangis! I just finished your new 39 clues book. I love it! It's creative what you put in about the lizard that Nellie is holding in the picture. Thanks 4 reading!

Thanks, Maddie!  I appreciate it very much.  (Nellie is SO smart!)

Peter Lerangis, what happened to Margaret Peterson Haddix, Rick Riordan, and Patrick Carmen? Patrick only wrote The Black Circle, Rick Riordan only The Maze of Bones and co-Vespers Rising, and Margaret only Into the Gauntlet. Thanks!
Admin Reply:
Hello, Alexa!  They are all busy working on their own books.  All three of them have major series AND single-title books.
Montego wrote on March 16, 2012 at 7:23 PM
Mr. Lerangis-
Have you read Roland Smith’s book Shatterproof yet? It says on another post that he finished writing? If so, what do you think of it?
Admin Reply:
Hello, Montego!  Yes, he has finished, but I have not yet read it.  Very excited to do so, but probably not until after my tour.
Logan wrote on March 16, 2012 at 7:22 PM
Hi, Peter! I was wondering, what is happening after CVV Book 6? Will there be another series?
Admin Reply:
Hi, Logan!  I hope so, but it’s too early to tell.  Haven’t heard a word one way or the other.
