Congratulations on the release of SEVEN WONDERS BOOK 1: The Colossus Rises

We've generated a blog post for the release that includes the embedded book trailer video and other information. The blog post is here: [pl-popup content="http://www.childrensbookstore.com/shop/books/seven-wonders-book-1-the-colossus-rises-9780062070401/" title="" width="1000" height="640"]http://www.childrensbookstore.com/shop/books/seven-wonders-book-1-the-colossus-rises-9780062070401/[/pl-popup]

We look forward to getting the book into the hands of our customers who love the 39 Clues series. I'm sure they will enjoy this series just as much.

Thank you for generating such great books for young readers. It's always wonderful to see kids excited about reading.

Hi Peter! Today you visited my school (Memorial Middle School in CT) . I have a few questions for you.
1) After you went to Russia did you write any books based on your experience?
2) How do you get your ideas for stories?
3) If you weren't a writer what would you be/do? How would it change your life?
4) What gave you the thought that you wanted to write?
5)What is your most popular book/series so far?
6) What awards have you won for writing?

I have been looking for a book series to start and when you talked about your books I became very interested. They grabbed my attention.
Thanks,
Elise

Hi, Elise!  What a great time I had visiting your school.  Thanks for welcoming me so warmly.  Here are your answers:

No, I didn’t, but it would fun to do that someday!
Usually from things I see and hear, and also from news articles and other books (I get inspired by other writers’ fearless ideas!).
I think I’d be an actor.  I might have to travel a lot more and spend time in L.A.  I’d probably have to buy a few more pairs of sunglasses and flipflops.
I don’t even remember not wanting to write.  I always did, even as a small boy.
The 39 CLUES, so far.  (But SEVEN WONDERS just began, so who knows … )
Recently my YA novel SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME WHO I AM won the American Library Association Schneider Award and was named to the Best Fiction for Young Adults list.  SMILER’S BONES won a New York Public Library Best Book Award and a Bank Street Best Book Award, and some of the WATCHERS books won International Reading Association Awards.

I’m glad you were interested in my books, and I hope you enjoy them!

Hi Peter I love your new trailer and you've given me many ideas to make my own books. I think you should do a historical fiction book on Leonardo Divinci, and decoding the mona lisa painting because there is a lot more about that picture than you think.

Thanks,
Kylie

Thanks, Kylie, for your kind words!  That sounds like a great idea.  Maybe that’s something you yourself might want to work on!

I enjoyed every minute of your presentation today at The Elisabeth Morrow School. Most of the laughter you heard was mine. Since I lead a writing group of 7th and 8th graders, I particularly loved the way you explained your writing process and style. Your story of our first idea was inspirational. And, by the way, I visited Rhodes on my honeymoon too but was more concerned with cuisine than the Colossos! That's why you are the famous author!
Admin Reply:
Ha!  No kidding?  Good choice for a honeymoon!  Thanks so much for this great feedback.  Your school is such a haven.  The kids were great, and I did hear your laughter!  All best to your seventh and eighth graders.  How lucky they are to be guided by someone so dedicated to the writing process.

Hello again, Savanna!  Thanks for the nice words about the books!

Gahh!  I’ve lost count.  Dozens.  Hundreds.
When I was growing up, it was a toss-up among Jack London, Edgar Allen Poe, and Ray Bradbury.

Hi, Ben!  It was good to meet you today.  I’ll be heading off across the U.S. on tour, so I won’t be able to send, but not to worry, I left autographed copies of THE COLOSSUS RISES at Books, Bytes, & Beyond in Glen Rock!

Dear Peter Lerangis,
You visited my school (Avoca West) around 2 weeks ago and I didn't exactly hear but wondering a few things.
1)Are you Greek?
2)How many books have you written so far including the ones that haven't come out yet?
3)What inspired you to come up with great ideas and WHO did?
4)Did any books inspire you?
5)How many of the 7 wonders did you go to?
6)What is your favorite book that you wrote?
Thank you very much for coming to my school for the 2nd time in less than a year!
Admin Reply:
Hi, Ellie!  It was a great privilege to visit such a great school twice!  Here you go:

Yes.  I was born in New York, but my grandparents immigrated from Greece.
I’ve lost count, but it’s more than 160.
I get inspired from things around me in everyday life, from conversations, from reading the news and other books, from movies, and just from my own imagination.
I always loved adventure books and mysteries.  I also read a lot of Edgar Allen Poe and Ray Bradbury.  But it was Jack London who really made me think about writing for a living.  His story, “To Build a Fire,” actually made me shiver with cold on a hot summer day.  I vowed that someday I would like to create magic experiences with words, just like him.
Well, only one of those Wonders still exists, and that’s the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.  I haven’t been there yet, but I have been to the site where the Colossus of Rhodes once stood.
THE COLOSSUS RISES, definitely!

Admin Reply:
Hi, Wynn!  I wrote my first book when I was 28.  I became a full-time writer when I was 31.  I think I started enjoying writing when I was in second or third grade.  All my friends and teachers liked what I wrote, and that made me feel great, so I kept on doing it!

I think your one of the best writers ever. Thank you
Suze
Admin Reply:
Hi, Suze.  I’m really glad you’re enjoying the book so far, and thanks for the nice words!  If I’m invited back to your school, of course I’ll come.  Did you like working on the Hanging Gardens?  I wish I could have seen them.  I’m not sure which of the wonders is my favorite.  Every time I start reading about one, it becomes my favorite!  Right now I think I’m leaning toward the Gardens.

You just visited my school, and you did not have time to answer my friend and my question. Have you met Suzanne Collins or Rick Riodran? Thank you so much!

Hi, Samantha!  Yes, I know Rick Riordan.  We’ve done a few events together, and he’s a great guy.  But I’ve never met Suzanne Collins!

Hi Mr. Lerangis, I have a few questions:

1.)For how many years have you written books?

2.)When you go on tour how long do you stay in one place?

3.)What do you like to do in your free time besides write?
thanks, Raeganne
Admin Reply:
Hello, Raeganne!  Here you go:
1.  About 25 years.
2.  Anywhere from one day to a week.
3.  Free time?  What’s that?  No, just kidding.  I listen to music, go running, go to movies, sometimes play basketball, watch TV, and mostly eat chocolate.
