Hi!  No sneak peek of Book 5 has been released yet, so we’re all scratching our heads about this.  Maybe it’s a prank.  And I’m afraid I’ve become fans of all the hostages.

Well I'm glad you're alive! What would I do if my favorite 39 clues author died?
I can't wait to read Shatterproof! Then buy it! Then read it again! Then read it again! (and then again!)

Thanks, Susie!  Enjoy it!

Hey! I really want to meet you, because you didn't come to where I live on your tour. Do I have to wait until your next tour to meet you? If yes, when is you next tour? If no, how can I meet you?
Admin Reply:
Hi!  Well, I go back on tour in February for a couple of months, but I don’t yet have an itinerary, so I’m not sure where I will be going.  I also do regular author visits.  Teachers or librarians can contact for those via the “Author Visits” link above.  Look forward to meeting you too someday!

Okay, if you say so! I guess that I can tell you about the horses now! They're based on plastic/Breyer horses and my imagination. Here it goes.
Flute, a HUGE black-and-white Irish Cob. (Katarina's)
Zanzibar-Windsire, a black, fleet-footed Arabian with silver dapples where magical rain struck. (Katarina's)
Autumn, a Shire/Clydesdale mix with brown and white patches. Her bridle is made of silver and yellow leaves, with leaves in her mane. (Lillian's)
Stormy, a dapple gray with black mane and tail. (Jasmine's)
Raindapples, a small grey pony with dapples from when she was born and rain created permanent dapples on her coat, and a white mane and tail. (Lillian's)
Starlight, pure blooded Arabian with a silver dappled coat. (Aliya's)
Skylark, a medium horse with a white coat that has a bluish tint to it. (Jasmine's)
And, finally, New Moon, a black Thoroughbred, named New Moon because of his pitch-black coat, like a new moon. (Aliya's)
Whew! That is a lot of horses. Can you tell I'm a dapple gray lover? Kinda easy, I guess.
Anyway, Katarina and her friends live in tree houses in four different trees, disguised with green paint and leaves, connected by rope bridges. Like my idea? ~TempestEagle5

Wow.  I’m becoming a bit of a dapple gray myself.  Sounds great!  (Although I know next to nothing about horses!)

Hey Mr.Lerangis I thought I would check in to see if you were still alive.
Do you agree that V1 is being entirely too rash and is going to get located by my awesome hero, Sinead, soon? With the help of all the cahills. Sometimes I just wonder what Amy and Dan would do without all their cousins so good at all different things?

Please visit my blog on Wordpress called jesusfreak11's blog, and my friends called today and the next day (also on Wordpress)

Anyway, it's like 1 o clock in the morning and I have church so goodbye.

Last I checked, I was still alive!  Glad to hear from you, and brace yourself for SHATTERPROOF!
CommanderLucian12-Montego wrote on September 2, 2012 at 5:20 AM
Hey, Mr. Lerangis! Sorry if I'm bothering you. but I have some questions about Shatterproof. In the preview, they are driving to Berlin Airport from Heidelberg, though in the Dead of Night Dan was at Berlin Airport already, when a girl asked him for aloe. Also, one more thing: The Rosenblooms and Cahills arrived at Berlin Brandenburg International Airport. Brandenburg is not scheduled to open for another six months, at least. I'm really sorry if I'm bothering you, I was just wondering.
Admin Reply:
Not a bother at all!  I can help with the first part.  In THE DEAD OF NIGHT, Dan and Amy are not in the Berlin Airport.  They are waiting for a flight TO Berlin.  If they were in the Berlin Airport, they would be at their destination, not waiting to catch a flight.  The confusion may be the presence of German tourists at the airport — but that’s why they’re tourists.  They’re on their way home.  As for Brandenburg — interesting.  Looks like you’ll have to take this up with the author in question, Mr. Smith!

Hey Peter its me again! I just recently read Infinity Ring and it was great! Now I can't want to get to the 39 clues stuff on tuesday!! I noticed countless similarities between the 39 clues and it. Something about it has been bothering me though. I read online that one of the polls on the 39 clues website had decided on the name and I remembering voting in it but I can't seem to remember what the other options were in the poll.... Do you happen to remember? I'm simply wondering what else they might have called it?
Admin Reply:
Hi, Chris!  Yes, I’ve read SHATTERPROOF, and it’s well worth the wait!  Roland Smith does an awesome job!  I could barely put it down.  As for the contest, I don’t think I ever saw it, so I’m clueless about the other options.  But now I’m curious, too.

Thanks! I could probably use that luck, because I am SO CRAZY! I have almost my entire NaNoWriMo book outlined when I change my book entirely! Now, I'm using the inspiration I got from my sister's stories to write an almost combination between My Name is Alekiel and The Wizard and the Maidens. I. AM. CRAZY. Period. Have you ever done that? I still can't believe that I did that, but I want to. So crazy. I actually came up with the idea at, like, eleven o'clock a few nights ago because I couldn't sleep, so I described the house. Tree house, actually. I'm calling it 'Secrets of the Wood Elves.' It's about a young teenage girl, (In medieval times(?)) and her friends, and horses, who are/is outcasts from the humans because of their pointed ears. (I say 'humans' because they are elves, but don't know.) I started out giving her-Katarina, that's her name-six horses, but divided them up among her friends. They all have cats. A snow leopard, (Katarina) a white tiger, (Jasmine Buttercup) A panther, (Aliya Greenfield) and a wolf pup, (Lillian Earthial.) I'll tell you about the horses another time. Good luck to you and all authors writing the Cahills Vs Vespers. : ) ~TempestEagle5

Hello, Peter! First time writing a guestbook entry (and very nervous about it, haha!) but long time reader 🙂

I wanted to thank you for your wonderful contributions to The 39 Clues. You probably hear it a lot, but your books are some of my favorite in the series :).

I have one little question about Dead of Night, something that caught my attention the second time reading through. Isabel told Ian that the Cahills only /tolerated/ him, saw him as an outsider and always would. Then, in the very next chapter, Sinead tells us through her narration that "she'd worked with Ian. /Tolerated/ him. Given him the benefit of the doubt." Was this use of 'tolerated' on purpose? That small bit of parallelism, intentional or not, absolutely tears my heart out each time I read it! 🙁

Thank you again so much! You're fantastic! 🙂
Admin Reply:
Hi, Adrianna!  Well, all I can say is you have absolutely no need to be nervous.  Just the opposite.  It’s always delightful to receive a message from a reader as perceptive as you are.  Yes, it was absolutely done on purpose, and I fully expected that only a certain number of sharp-eyed people would catch it.  Congrats.  And thanks for all the kind words.

Hi Mr. Lerangis,
(Random question of the year or day?) Have you watched The Hunger Games movie yet? (Me: That was very random..) And have you ever been in a school band? (Me:Yay!! Not a random question!! :D)

Then I'm looking forward even more! I hope he writes as amazingly as you do!! Instead of writing, I've been reading my sister's old stories, which she claims stink. Hahaha. I LOVE them. I've been reading my old favorites, Azzy's Kingdom in Kemt, (have the original animals she used to model for that) the sequel, The Wizard and the Maidens, and a new one, My Name is Alekiel. LOVE that one A LOT. Wish I could let you read them.

Hi, Mr. Lerangis! I have one question: It's about something that Amy and Dan are missing in the series. They're traveling all over the world, going from continent to continent in a matter of days, but where are their VISAS? I have been to nearly every 39 Clues location, and it has taken MONTHS to process some visa requests.

P.S. Page 39-The Medusa Plot: Oceania is spelled "Oceana". Just a side note!
Admin Reply:
GREAT question.  All I can say is that it pays to have Cahill pals in high places.  And as for Oceania — yes, you are right!  So many people claim to find mistakes that turn out not to be mistakes at all, but I believe you’re the first who has actually reported a real one to me!  I will forward this to Scholastic for future reference, so the future of the wolrd will befree of typos,
TempestEagle5 wrote on August 27, 2012 at 7:31 PM
Exactly the reference that I was thinking of!! Maybe i can get a hold on your first book. Sounds pretty interesting. 🙂 Can't wait till Shatterproof comes out. Guess that I'll just have to reread the first three. Must go now. Had a small inspiration for a good scene in June, and I want to work on it while I'm done with school. Adios! ~TempestEagle5

Good luck!  (And SHATTERPROOF is great.  Kept me guessing and turning the pages like crazy.  Roland knows how to spin a story!)
TempestEagle5 wrote on August 25, 2012 at 8:19 PM
Thank you so much. As for the reference to 'poodle', in book three, while they're at Alistair's estate, Ian is talking about how each year, he or Natalie would get lost on the grounds of the Kabra estate and his parents would have to send out the 'homing "poodles."' There's your answer. Thanks again. What was your first book? I'd like to know. That is, if it's all right with you. How did you and the other authors come up with the idea for the 39 clues and pick who would write them? I've always wondered that. I'm a very curious person. Also, can you link 'Juliet' to the Cahills vs. Vespers series, not the 39 clues? I can. If you've read the Medusa Plot, and have an excellent memory, you should be able to. If not, I can tell you how to. 🙂 it's relatively easy.
~TempestEagle5
P.S. Have any ideas for codes that I could put in my book? I used a weird font for one!
Admin Reply:
Thanks for the bit about the poodles from THE SWORD THIEF — yup, I remember writing that, but I’m not sure what question you’re answering. (I don’t recall anyone asking what the poodles were, but someone did ask about the poodles’ names.)  My first book was called PUZZLES AND GAMES.  It was a book of puzzles and games, and it was published around the time of the invention of fire.   Okay, maybe a few years afterward.  We authors did not come up with the original idea for THE 39 CLUES; Rick Riordan and our editor developed it together and worked out a rough outline for Books 2–10.  The other authors were brought in afterward.  The way we decided who would do which book was pretty much like this: we said “Uh-huh” when our editor told us which books we ought to do.  And I believe our favorite little brother, Dan, came up with the Romeo and Juliet reference, right in chapter 1 of THE MEDUSA PLOT.  Nice one.  If you can remember that, you’ll have no trouble with codes!

Dear Mr. Peter Lerangis,

My name is Lauren K. Pomeroy, and I am a self-published Author out here in Gilbert Arizona. After doing some research, I found that you used a Ghost Writing name as A.L. Singer, who also wrote childrens books, one in particular, The Swan Princess. Is this true?

I am trying to contact anyone who would know any copyright information on this book/screenplay, either you, or Mr. Richard Rich - this is a story I deeply want to retell, only because I've been in love with it since I was a little girl. I'm more an epic novelist for Young Adults, and fantasy fiction is my forte, I love it more than anything in the world. I think the Swan Princess has a fair shot and I want to be the one to give it justice and bring it back -I'm about 57 pages into the YA Fantasy Fiction Novel so far but I want to get permission to write the story and publish it.

Is there anyway you could help me, if you know I must get your permission, or Mr. Richard Rich? I would really appreciate it!

Please also feel free to look at www.lkayepom.wordpress.com only because I've put up excerpts of the book, of what I have written so far in the unfinished novel, so if you want to see where I'm going with it?

Thank you so much and I hope to speak with you soon!

Lauren K. Pomeroy

Hello, Lauren!  Yup, years ago I used the name A. L. Singer as a pen name (and a few others, which I talk about on this page)!  And I deeply appreciate and respect your efforts to find the copyright holder for this material.  I wrote the book as a work-for-hire — that is, Scholastic procured the publication rights from the movie company and then hired me to write the novelization.  The copyright holder was Nest Productions, and its address at the time was 333 North Glenoaks Boulevard, Suite 400, Burbank, CA 91502.  The movie came out in 1994, though, so it’s entirely possible this address has changed.  Another avenue for you would be to research the records of the U.S. Copyright office.  There also seems to have been a company called Swan Princess Partners, and a bit of research turns up what may be their lawyers: Gardere & Wynne LLP, 3000 Thanksgiving Tower, 1601 Elm Street, Dallas, TX 75201-4761. Again, I don’t know if this is current, so you may want to back this up with some further research.  Anyway, it’s a start.  I hope I’ve helped, and best of luck to you!

Mr. Lerangis, do you know where I can find an excerpt of Shatterproof? I found it once, but can't find it now. That really aggravates me. I have I great memory when it comes to the 39 clues, and Bible facts, but not the internet. Also, a quick question. Do you see 39s everywhere? I do. It's my favorite number. I drive my siblings CRAZY when I talk about them. It's kinda fun. Normally, I can reference almost any word to the 39 clues directly or indirectly.
My friend said 'pink' and I said that in book three Natalie was wearing jeweled pink Prada sneakers. Would you give me a word? Also, how do you look at other peoples agent cards? i want to show you mine. Not really scary. Actually, the scary thing about it is that in the image of Amy, she's wearing the same kind of shirt that I have, except it's green. And that shirt is my favorite one!!! Yikes!

Well, NOW I'm trying to outline. In a way. Not really an outline. Oh, well. I figured out something for brainwashing. Kinda bizarre, but it will serve it's purpose. My sister just went to college, and before that we were in Gatlinburg, so I guess you could say that I've been pretty busy. In fact, when we were in Gatlinburg, we went to Dollywood, The Aquarium, and the Titanic Museum. It is SO cool. You should go there sometime. Also been busy with helping my friend out with her book. I love to do that. Not to mention that we are starting a writing club called FLOW. For the Love of Writing. I came up with the title, she came up with the abbreviation. We're thinking of doing something like what you guys do. A series written by several different people. We have tons of fun with things like this.
Also, I have a comment. I don't likewhere you guys are going with Jake and Amy. BLECH!! I prefer Evan. (Sorry if that insulted you) I'm actually putting someone a LOT like him in my book. They're gonna be best friends.
I have a question for you, too. Have you ever heard of the Door Within Trilogy? By Wayne Thomas Batson? You should read it. It's one of my favorites. Right underneath The 39 Clues and Cahills Vs. Vespers. Hope that you will enjoy it if you have the time to find and read it. The Door Within, The Rise of the Wyrm Lord, and The Final Storm.

Hey, TempestEagle5!  Thanks for the recommendations.  The Titanic Museum sounds especially cool.  So now that your sister’s away, you have more time for writing, huh?  Although I’ll bet you miss her.  FLOW is a great name and a great acronym.  Good luck!  Yes, I have heard of THE DOOR WITHIN trilogy but have not read them, so thanks for the heads-up!  As for Jake and Amy, we’ll be sure to take note of your comment and stay tuned for some unexpected developments!
