I have an idea for a new book.
Admin Reply:
Hello, Davis.  That’s great — if you like the idea you should go for it.  Try to start the book yourself and see how you do with it.  Doesn’t have to be long (or short).  Just dig in and have some fun with it.  It was great visiting your school yesterday!

I love the picture of "Her Majesty and her Vassals" How did you get to sit on the Iron Throne of Westeros?

Thank you again for speaking at my school! Is there a place I can send the photos I took?
Admin Reply:
Ha!  That throne was just sitting there in Union Station in Philadelphia.  The TV company was doing a promotional event, inviting people to sit in it.  That was such great fun in Clinton yesterday.  Please feel free to send the photos to me at info@peterlerangis.com.  Can’t wait to see them.  Thanks!

dear Peter,
I was at the last school you went to for your tour totoket valley elementary school. I have a question and a comment. My comment is, that I have a story that is 17 pages long and still in the process of being written. My question was, what was your first ever published story as a famous author.
Admin Reply:
Hello, Ashley!  I really enjoyed my visit to TVES!  A seventeen-page story?  That’s fantastic.  Sounds like you’re a real writer.  My first published book, believe it or not, didn’t even have a plot.  It was a book of puzzles and games.  (Many years later, long after I forgot about that book, my son came home with a copied page from that book for homework.  He asked me if I could help him, and I was able to tell him that his dad WROTE his homework!)

Hi, Kit!  There's one secret answer to why I don't tell people: because they don't ask!  Actually, I like the name very much.  I've had it since I was born!  I would have been much more upset if it were, say, Hambone or Lumpy.

How old were you when you first wrote the first 39 Clues
Admin Reply:
Somewhere between 39 and 57.
Claire wrote on May 8, 2012 at 7:18 PM
Why did you call it the 39 clues? Why didn't you call it the 57 clues?
Admin Reply:
Because Heinz already had a lock on that number 57.

Dear Mr. Lerangis,
Let me just say I'm a huge fan. You are actually my role model, you inspired me to start writing. I've always loved to write and I still love to write. Do have any suggest any tips to writing?
Admin Reply:

Thanks, Zoe. I'm honored to receive those kind words.  May you always have that great enthusiasm for writing.  Many people ask me for advice and I usually make sure to say what a great thing it is to be starting so young. You have lots of time, to read, read, read. That’s the best way to become a writer. Read as much as you can. Read what you love. Try to figure out what your favorite authors do to make their books so vivid. What kind of words do they use? What words do they leave out? Every good story has a question that is not answered until the end. What is the question in your story? Try writing a story from beginning to end. It’s a great feeling to finish a story. You may want to show some of your stories to your teacher, or you may want to keep some stories to yourself. The important thing is to keep enjoying it and keep doing it. There are no shortcuts to being a writer. You need to keep doing it, and you will get better and better.  Good luck!

Hi, Mr. Lerangis! All of your books are really awesome! Do you have any other books/series to recommend for people to read?

Yours Truly,
Ruby

Hi Peter, this is not a question, this is the answer to your question.
No, it wasn't me, it was Ashley aka SteelBone2. I was probaly the second person to have caught that.
Admin Reply:
Ah, OK.  I'd be happy to know what you caught, for future reference.  Feel free to let me know!

Natalie sat eagerly next to Alistair. "You didn't happen to bring prosciutto with buffalo mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes on whole-grain focaccia with pesto sauce?"

-Was it a panini? I actually researched that, and the closest thing to it was a panini and a pizza.

It sounds yummy. 😀
(Sorry if this was a little bit odd. Or maybe it IS odd. Haha)
Admin Reply:
Hello, Reneilda!  I don’t know what it’s called, but it sure sounds good to me!

Hello, Monica!  Thanks so much!  I’m not sure which part of the book you’re referring to, so feel free to write back with a page number so I can understand the question.  As for the story, I’m happy to provide a link to the story in your message so readers can enjoy and comment on it, but alas, as I mentioned to the questioner below, I’m so maxed out from the book tour — plane travel, car travel, school visits, bookstore visits, explorations, making videos, writing blog posts, answering guestbook posts, reading and commenting on hundreds of writing-prompt responses, managing to keep up with my own family — that I simply have no more bandwidth for reading stories, excerpts from novels, etc. As you can imagine, a lot of people ask me to do this, and to be fair I would have to say yes to everyone, which would make my brain implode!
Ariel wrote on May 5, 2012 at 9:38 PM
Hi Mr.Peter,
Did you know that you forgot a comma twice in The Dead of Night?
Admin Reply:
Oh?  Do tell!  We always appreciate when people notice typos, because then we can correct them for future printings.  So feel free to write back with specifics.  (Are you the person who wrote on the Message Board?  If so, please copy your message here in this Guestbook and I’ll be happy to answer it!)

Sorry, but I just remembered something! Do you know anything about the 39 Clues movie? I am super excited about it and I can assure you that when it comes to my city I will be at the midnight premire (you know, if there is one)! Please write back!
Admin Reply:
Hello, Again, Becca.  No, we don’t know anything except the fact that there is a screenplay and perhaps even a director, but there has been no casting yet, so we’re waiting to hear from Dreamworks about that.

Hey Mr. Lerangis, I'm AgentWolf827 (CommanderLucian12 might recognize me) from the Message Board and I just wanted to let you know that I am going to the library soon to check out your other books (wow, it's gonna take me forever to read all those books!). Do you remember me from Chicago? I'm the one who corrected you on the code-page relationship during your book tour. You aremy favorite author and it I think that it is great that you respond to all of our questions and comments and that you always have time for your fans. Keep up your good work!!!

Thank you, Becca!  It was a pleasure to meet you and I really appreciate the kind words.  (If fans have time for me, I have time for them!)

Greetings Mr. Lerangis, hope you would remember me from my previous posts, i have a short script for a book written its a thriller category, hope you take a few seconds to read it....

[expandable title="Click for story"]

Selena was so happy, it was the second morning of her Honeymoon and her married life just the way she wanted. But something was just missing....she liked adventures, twists in life. There he was his new life partner still snoring while sleeping in the comfy bed of the Enchanteur Grand hotel in Napa Valley. She hated his sleeping, such a wonderful day and he was sleeping? She woke him up and dragged him towards the bathroom door and ordered him to get ready. She ordered pancakes and hot dogs for both of them with Cappucino and waited for his husband, Jake Wellington to eat with her.

10 minutes...Ok...20 minutes..hmmmm....30 minutes....Jake??.... an hour....well, thats it.

She knocks the bathroom door ordering him to vacant the bathroom. After a dozen of unbearable knocks he comes out with his face hidden in towel as he tried to dry his hair. As he uncovered his face, Selena gasped, she didnt know what was happening, she rubbed her eyes to beleive her sight.

She was too confused.... where was her husband and who was this man..she was sure she had her husband enter the bathroom.

"Who are you?" She asked scared.

"Your Husband." He answered in a rough voice.

She ran out of her room and pressed for her lift ..as she glanced behind she saw that man coming for her wearing her tshirt while running...she runs into Meredith Stoll, the manager of the hotel..... Please help me Meredith, there's a man in my room who came out of the bathroom saying he's my husband,,,and Jake,,my husband he's not in there,,please.."

"Please dont worry mam, Guards , come with me", and they walk straight into that man, "Thank god sir," says Meredith, "your wife said someone walked straight into your room by the bathroom and you were nowhere to be seen."

"Wait," said Selena, "he's that man, he was in my room."

"Sorry mam, but as we know he," she points towards that man, "Ryan Connors is your husband with whom you had arrived day before yesterday."

"Meredith," she said with a harsh tone, "he is not my husband, now stop playing all pranks and tell me where is Jake?"

And with a spray of chloroform and a harsh look on Meredith's face, she slips into unconsciousness.

(This story follows Selena a 25 year old girl who recently married Jake Wellington, a boy from New York after 6 Months of acquaintance and was enjoying her honeymoon in Napa Valley, when her life twists a 360 degree turn and a guy named Ryan Connors appears out of nowhere claims to be her husband, after losing every hope of finding her husband she is been declared mentally sick and dangerous. When she refuses to accept Ryan as her husband even when a proof of wedding video, pictures and marriage certificate declaring her wrong, she tries to run away from the hotel and that anonymous guy. When after hours of catch and mouse Selena falls into Ryan's hands, he then tells her the story about Elena."

"Listen or i'll kill you," he says pointing his gun towards Selena, " Listen, I'm not interested in you, understand? I have your husband Jake kidnapped. And if you dont do as i say, he will die...Listen, my wife, real wife Elena had acquired one and a quarter billion from her father after his death and after our marriage she was going to give it all to me."

He said it like he was making her beleive that billion dollars in his hands, 'but before we could meet the majistrate she died in an accident after her car drowning in the strean mear the valley she fell from, I wasnt in the car, but she died before giving me the money, and then i saw you eight months before in New York at the beach , at first i couldnt beleive my eyes but then i could understand, you look exactly alike Elena and you could help me get those money."

"Why, how can i?"

"The money after Elenas accident were forfeited by the government and wouldnt be transferred to my account until she was declared dead as her body hadnt been found after the accident, and to eclare her dead they need waiting for 7 years, so if you dont signt the documents after making your lawyer and uncle beleive that youre alive, you cant have yourself and Jake free from me.

Hi, Mr. Lerangis,
I was wondering if there will be a Mission 6 to the last book in the 39 Clues: Cahills vs. Vespers. I counted all the cards and there will be six cards in that last book, but that mission will reveal the identity of Vesper 1 - and the same book will supposedly reveal the identity of Vesper 1, too. I just don't see the use of that mision, even though it's definently there.

Thanks,
Truman

Hello, Truman!  Yes, there will be a Mission 6, but it won’t be about the identity of Vesper 1.  Hmm.  Intrigued?  Me, too!
