Mr. Lerangis,
You came to my school recently. I thought that you were very funny and I thank you for visiting. (P.S. You do have swag) I enjoyed being there, because you are one of the first official authors, that I have ever met. I hope to be able to write books like you. Thank you for your time.
Thanks, Colin

Hi Peter! I go to North Beach Elementary and recently saw your power point and I can't believe you will be at Books and Books. I would like to know what Books and Books you will be at
Thanks,
Julia

Hi, Julia! So sorry I only got to see this today, Sunday! I was at the Books & Books in Coral Gables. I had to go back to New York, but I signed all my books there. So unfortunately I won’t have a chance to see you again, but if you want to get any of my books in the future, the ones there will have my signature in them. I really enjoyed visiting your school!

When I went to school that day (i.e. March 3rd) I was jumping around becauseI was so excited a everyone was looking at me as Iif I was possessed
The thing is I download books and read them
If ypu know a good link by which I can download the epub version of the ebook for free the please let me know because I am dying to read curse of the king
Thank you
Can you please help me in another thing? There's this question that keeps nagging me whenever I think about seven wonders:

Help me answer this question please 🙂
From yoir no. 1 fan,

Thank you so much! I’m thrilled you enjoy the books. And as for Marco, well, hmmmmm, I will let you decide. There’s a lot more to come in his story!
I would be happy to give you information about how to find books, but not for free. The problem is, believe it or not, it’s not legal. In fact, if you download a book through a sketchy downloading or file-sharing site for free, that site has stolen the book and even though I know you don’t mean to, you too are participating in theft. (Kind of like getting stolen clothing or food.) The thing is, we authors make our living from sales of our books. And we work hard to make them worthy of the price. But if everyone were to download our books illegally, we would not be able to continue writing. A better idea, if you find the books too expensive, is to borrow them from a library. (Libraries, imho, are very cool because, well, they do pay for books!) Hope you understand, and thanks again.

Hello, Sir Lerangis!
I am one of your avid fans! I really really loved your series and the way you deliver it at every book released, especially the Tomb of Shadows (which took me to read it again to finally understand what happened.) and The Key (poor Aliyah!)
Keep up the good work, Sir Peter!
* BONUS QUESTION: Which do you prefer more -- Dark Chocolate, White Chocolate or both?

Thank you very much, Jed. And Dark. Definitely.

Dear Mr. Lerangis,
Thank you for taking the time to come and visit Kiser Middle School in Greensboro, NC. Our students truly enjoyed your presentation and could not stop talking about your books or about creating their own.
Your presentation left them with shining eyes and inspired hearts. Thank you again.

Hello, Nira. Thank you so much for your kind words. What a treat it was to meet the kids and talk shop! They were perceptive and brilliant and it was an honor for me to be with them. It was great to see you at the Barnes and Noble the evening before, too. All best to my friends in Greensboro!

Dear Mr.Lerangis,
I really enjoyed your visit to my school today!( Kiser middle school) You told us about one of the first books you wrote. (When you got stuck on the subway in front of a ghost station when you were coming home from work.) But I forgot the title of that book, and I really want to read it. Can you please respond with the title?
Thank you very much, Charlotte!

Hi, Charlotte!  I LOVED visiting Kiser.  You guys were amazingly smart and welcoming and fun to be with!  The book was called LAST STOP and the series was called WATCHERS.  I have some ordering information on this page.

OH MY WORD I LOVED YOUR BOOK. Until now my favorite book read this year had been Loot by Jude Watson. Sorry Jude Watson, there's a new Marco in town and we all love him. My friends (who are not writers) that read the book thought it was great except for the cliffhanger ending. Having plotted a couple books, (I have gotten good this fast because of my writing lectures that have been given to me and I started getting into writing in seventh grade even though I didn't start creative writing until last summer) I kind of expected a couple things from your book. So for fun, after I had read about the first few chapters I decided to make a list of what I thought might happen. I'm glad a couple of them came true, but I'm not glad about one of the main characters dying/get tortured came true. My friend is now out for blood since you killed Aly twice, but you should be happy (depending on how much you obsess over good books) that my friend shipped Jack and Aly. (Jaly) I heard her say Jaly and I said, "It's like Jelly, but better." So now some random questions (because I like random) 1. Which of the charcters in Seven Wonders do you think you based off yourself the most? I'm guessing not Jack becasue you arent dorky at all. (That was sarcasim by the way and dont worry becasue I'm dorky too. I think most writers are for some reason) 2. I didn't understand something: When Zeus/King What's-His-Name fused his half of the sword with the one in the Heptakiklos was that what made Atlantis start to rise? Because the Select or Zeus/King What's-His-Name didn't put any Loculi in the Heptakiklos at all?????? 3. What's your favorite book that you've written so far and why? 4.Why do you hate Aly????? She never did anything to you!!!!!!!!! (I'm just kidding, I totally get the dilema-character-slaughter-thing. In one of my stories I had to kill off a character that I was really attached to also) BUT SERIOUSLY: ALY= EMOSEWA 5. Do you know what you are calling the next book? If so can you tell us yet? 6. Do you just sit and write twists after every chapter just to annoy readers because that's what I do? I got a 94 on my math test today because I was reading The Curse of The King instead of studying (94 is bad for me, in case you were wondering) 7. Relating to my follow up question. Is this how you write?: Hmm, I have one paragraph left in this chapter... Oh, I'm gonna put a cliffhanger. This character has been alive for more than seven chapters, looks like I have to kill him/her (cough-Torquin and Aly-cough) 8. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you know the Muffin Man? Ok, that looks like about everything. I will try (not do because there is a try, Yoda) not to annoy you anymore while you work on, (Insert Title Here), book five. Wow I think this was the longest one I've written to you. Final thought: YOUR BOOK WAS EMOSEWA. So don't worry about all the people who want to kill you for killing Aly because as long as you have cliffhangers they have a reason to keep you alive. (If you heard me say that my voice would go to a creepy whisper at the end so you would know it was a joke. Just Saying.) Until next I annoy you, Nefer Sedjmek
Admin Reply:
Whew. OK, here goes:
1. Jack, mostly, but also a bit of Aly. Not so much Cass and Marco, but there is a piece of me in each one, the poor things.
2. More or less, yes. This will be further explained in Book 5 (sorry!)
3. The Curse of the King, because it’s my most recent baby and it’s just now leaving the nest.
4. I LOVE Aly. I only create mayhem with the characters I love. Well, mostly.
5. The Legend of the Rift.
6. I am the Enemy of Math Tests. I am dreadfully sorry about your 94. Wait. 94??????
7. Some secrets may never be told...
8. No, but the Muffin Man knows me.
And thank you. I promise I will hang cliffs until they cart me away.

Hey Peter!
After becoming a huge fan of the 39 Clues series, I decided to have a look at some of your other books. I read The Colossus Rises in 2012/ 2013 when the second book wasn't out. I tried to remember to get the book as soon as it launched as I loved the first book so much, but I forgot! Over the last week, however, I have caught up on the whole series and annoyed myself so much at the same time by running out of Seven Wonders material to read. I absolutely love the endings of each book and the one in The Curse of the King drove me insane! Is there an official release date for The Legend of the Rift? If it's nine months again, I'll be crying for days!
Keep up the great storytelling, and I hope you write some more 39 Clues!

Thank you, Raza! So glad you’re enjoying the books. Okay, I know this is not what you want to hear, but yes, Book 5 will be published in early 2016. But I promise it’ll be worth the wait!

Thank you so much for that advice it really helped a lot. I could use that with my other stories too. If you're wondering how I'm writing so many stories so fast: I type super fast so thank goodness for spellcheck. I'm getting super excited for tomorrow because that's when your book comes out!!!! So heres the pressure on you: since I have recently been doing writing workshops I took advice to when reading a book (in order to get better at writing) to read the first sentence of the first chapter/ read it out loud/ ask questions about the sentence/ read the first paragraph and ask questions about what picture the author has painted in your mind/ read the first few chapters and ask questions. I have done this with multiple books that I have already read: Percy Jackson, Wildwood, Harry Potter, Throne of Glass, Hunger Games, etc. I will cant wait to do this with your new book. Just so you know, I was sort of hoping you would say something about Marco from my last message, but alas I will have to wait so you can still enjoy cackling evilly when people storm you with questions on this frustrating character. Last thing: I'm kinda sad your tour will not take you anywhere near our wonderful state of Oregon, but maybe next book. If you ever think about coming to Oregon, do it in the summer time because the rainy winters and springs are sort of depressing. (I got a short store idea from this weather)
The next time I do this it will probably be to congratulate you on a great book. But until then: Nefer sedjmek (May you here only good things)
Admin Reply:
Thank you, RS! I hope I get to Oregon for a Book 5. Let's hope the powers-that-be make it so. And wow, you do write fast!

Hi, Brandon!  I grew up on Long Island so my favorite team has always been the Mets!  (Believe it or not.)  I use Microsoft Word when I write, and there’s a pretty easy way to mark the manuscript for double-spacing in the Formatting menu.  Good luck!

Hi Peter, We are still riding the wave of excitement after your visit to Campus Middle School. Thank you for your generosity, flexibility and the genuine interest you showed in our students. You'll be happy to know that over 30 students finished the book overnight and many are checking out the 2nd and 3rd in the series. We are anxiously awaiting The Curse of the King! There is still much buzz in our school about your wonderful visit. Many thanks and best of luck on your tour.

Hi, Patty!  That’s AWESOME!  Thank you, Derek, and the whole staff so much for your hard work transforming a snowy, friendly school into the ancient Mediterranean.  The kids were so bright and welcoming, as was every grownup-kid I met.  I will never forget this trip.  A perfect launch for tour, although I don’t know how anything can match that CMS excitement!

Dear Mr. Lerangis,
You recently visited my school, Campus Middle. When I was listening to your speech, I really wanted to continue writing the stories I had to put aside for the sake of good grades. And when I looked at them, I realized that they were fantastic, but they were missing a few elements. First, they lacked good character names. And they lacked a good, hooking title.
So how do you name your characters and how do you title a story/book?
Admin Reply:
Hi, Madeleine!  Well, if your story is good, that’s BY FAR the most important thing.  The names and title don’t really matter as much as the story.  But I do understand that you want the names and the title to “pop”!  Titles are hard.  Sometimes, for me, the best thing to do is to write out a bunch of possible titles, one after the other, even if they’re terrible.  After a while, you start getting ideas, and maybe by the twentieth one, you start to like what you’re coming up with.  Then, usually, I put aside the list for a day or so but the back of my mind starts working on it, and I may come up with a great idea when I’m doing something else completely.  As for character names, I usually go by sound.  For example, it would be hard to have an evil character with the name Sarah or Bob, because those names are so friendly-sounding, but the name Thatch or Blaze may have a bit of mystery, a hint of evil.  A character called Benedict will conjure up a different image than one with the name Chuck.  Just play with sounds until something feels right.  I hope that helps!

It is about a ghostly train, and a young girl's adventure on it. if I could show it to you, I would. Please, continue to write amazing books, and stay awesome. Signed, Hayden Swyers

Rainbow Socks (Peyton, but this isn't as fun) wrote on February 19, 2015 at 5:41 AM
Yo Peter, I hope you aren't starting to expect these every couple of weeks… because my friend says I'm obsessed. (this is coming from my friend who looks at pictures of Finnick Odair from HG and Luke Castellan from PJ all break) Anyways, I made a deadline for myself to finish my second draft a couple days after my birthday. (March 26th) So I'm almost to this chapter of the book where one of the "sort of villains" (as I call characters like this, an example of that would be ): Marco) reveals to the readers that she actually is the you-know-who (that is a reference to HP so I don't give away my plot in case you are going to read it. I do not expect you to by the way) So I am thinking I should not put it in the middle even though I sort of want to stop calling her Harper. (extremely maniacal laugh) Do you ever have problems like this? If so how should I fix this? I read that sweet note from Dario because it was right there when I came onto this page and I feel the same way about those kind of plots. Reading that sort of made me rethink putting The Big Revealing in the middle of the first book (I'm gonna call it that even though it might not get published) Speaking of publishers, how would one send their book to a publisher when they think it's done? How did you first get published? I am looking forward to March third because your book comes out AND its my friend's birthday. Unfortunetly (I think I spelled that wrong 'cause I'm tired) she didn't listen when I told her to read Seven Wonders before her birthday so the fourth book will not be a gift for her. Thanks again for all the return messages even though I can be pretty annoying. (I am told this almost every day tee-hee) And remember to EAT YOUR CHEESE. The dragon apocalypse is coming. Don't say I didn't warn you… Rainbow Socks Out!
Admin Reply:
Hey, Author-Who-Until-Recently-Was-Peyton-but-Who-Now-Goes-by-Rainbow-Socks!  I am madly eating cheese in preparation for the dragon apocalypse but I think I shall switch to chocolate.  Without having read your story, I can’t intelligently comment on when to drop your big reveal, but I can semi-intelligently ask a couple of questions: Is the reveal the point of the mystery?  If so, leave it to the end.  Is it necessary to know the secret identity in order to continue the story?  If so, do it earlier.  Does the story droop after the reveal, or does it pick up steam?  If it picks up steam, you’re OK with doing it earlier.  You have to be clear WHY the identity remains a secret.  If you are clear about that, the plot should tell you where it’s necessary to drop the reveal.

Dear Peter Lerangis,
how you maybe remember I wrote here some time ago after I read the "Tomb of shadows". Punctual at the 10.02. I bought your new novel named "the Key". I finished it about half an hour ago and I want to thank you for such an emosewa story! In the last two months I read some german books, but I had a look at the "Key" since a long time. Thats why I bought it imediately after it was published on Google Play! In my view, its a great idea to support the main story with those journals. They give me a little fun while waiting for the next book of the Seven Wonders Series. Plus, they are written well. The select was good, the orphan was nice and the key was even better! I liked the way you told the story of the twins. The diary entries give an opportunity to read the novel in short parts, like the chapters in the normal books. I don't know if I said that before, but I like the fact that your books have so many chapters. So you have the feeling that you can stop reading often and you dare to read even if you have just some minutes time. In "The Key" the days of the diary gave me such a great feeling too. It's a while since I read my last english book, so the short story was a great thing to come in again. I had much fun while reading, because English is a great language and your style is interesting and allways different. Now I'm realy excited about the fourth book which will come out next month. The end of the last book was so unexpected and nice that I can't wait to read how you change the plot! I don't know why, but I like special endings. Thats why I liked to read the books of Phillip Pullmann. If every book would just end with "Oh yea we got another orb - lets search the next" it would become boring affter a while. Thats the reason why I liked the endings of your books! Every time I feel goose bumps after reading a book not because it was scary but because of it's awesomesauce and epic plot, I know that it was nice! And exactly that feeling was it what I had after "The Tomb of shadows" I hope the next book will be nice too. Today I just want to thank you for the great journal because it encouraged me to read some more english books! Thanks!
Dario

Hello, Dario!  So good to hear from you again.  Many thanks for this lovely note, it really picks up my spirits.  I’m so delighted to be one of the reasons for your great interest in the English language!  By the way, Philip Pullman is one of my favorite authors.  I think his writing is nearly perfect.  I’m very excited for March 3 and I hope THE CURSE OF THE KING meets your expectations!
