Hi!
I have literally this second finished reading your book "The yearbook" and couldn't stop myself from messaging you to tell you that it was a work of genius and has made its way up to my number one book spot. The way that it kept me guessing twist after turn and had me in tears at the heartwarming tragedy.
Anyways to keep things short (because I could go on about the books brilliance forever) you have yourself a new fan and am going to investigate the rest of your works (including the new series that I have just found out about! Oh and a quick question, will these new books be available in the UK immediatly?)
Thank you so much for your work. Rachael

Thank you, Rachael.  Oh, how great to know that THE YEARBOOK is still being read after all these years, and I’m delighted it affected you so deeply.  Yes, as far as I know, the SEVEN WONDERS books are released simultaneously in the U.K.   I hope you enjoy them!

Hi Peter! When I was a kid, I read The Watchers #3, I.D, over and over, it was spooky and totally captivating. Now, as an adult, I'm a fan of the canadian tv series Orphan Black, which is also about sets of clones with a degenerative condition, the cure to which can be found in the original genome. Apparently, my taste hasn't changed much. Because the plot and themes of I.D and Orphan Black are so similar, I was wondering if you or your work had any connection to the tv series? All the best, Kurt.
Admin Reply:
Hello, Kurt!  Wow, it’s pretty awesome to hear from someone who still remembers I.D.  Honestly, I haven’t watched The Orphan Black, but now I’ll make sure I do!

Hi Peter Lerangis,
thank you for your fast answer. It's very coll that it's possible to talk with authors like you via web and I like your idea of answering every post. Congratulations for the great ranking in the youth series! I'm still not going with the age suggestions (I'm 16 now and I like your style and the books) but however I allways like if other people like the same books I like because the authors like to write more if they get good feedback. I hope that this will be in your mind too. It would be awsome to give Jack and his friends "a second chance". And though I would like to read a lot more SW-books I totaly agree with your decission to shorten the series! If everybook is just a hangover and the story and characters don't change at all (like at the beginning of the 39 Clues) it can get boring. everyone was expecting you to write seven books. It's great that you formed another storyline than just 1 of the ancient wonders per book. This would have be like a checklist but I really liked the way you solved the probems. I wish you a nice week and lots of fun while writing the next book.
Dario
PS: I got a mark 1 in the final test paper called BLF in English. i''m very proud of it and I'm thankful that your books animated me to think in a better way of the English language. Next year I'll do the advanced course.

Thanks for this thoughtful note, Dario, and I apologize for taking so long to write back.  I really appreciate your support regarding the number of books.  Your analysis is exactly right.  I just finished writing Book 5 and I’m beyond excited for people to read it.  But most importantly, congratulations on your excellent grade on BLF!  I’m delighted to have been a small part of your achievement!  I think you’ll do wonderfully in the advanced course.

Hello Mr. Peter
I'm Doven from Philippines, I fall inlove with your book THE SEVEN WONDERS series. It's so amazing & I had this crazy experience when I bought the book. The first one I bought was the 2nd book coz there's no book 1 available in every bookstore in our place. But then I keep on visiting & checking out every bookstores but there's really no stock & I keep searching for it again & again until I was about to give up, (& decided maybe I should just order online but can't wait for too long) but when I walk around again at the book store something caught my attention & there you go a towering stock of book 1 just got arrived. I was so happy & I jumped around like crazy at the bookstore, & everyone was looking at me.
I can,'t help it I love the book so much, even though I spoiled it by reading the book, It was so amazing & Awesomesauce. Hope you can write more bool series like SEVEN wonders really love your works. I'm a big fan. thank you so much 🙂

Hi Peter Lerangis,
I really can't wait for the next book. I've got some questions:
1. Will there be another series like the Seven Wonders after the last book is out (I mentioned that some authors as Rick riordan started another series after their first one using known characters in conectiuon with new ones and another story) You could do this too.
2. Why did you dicede to write 5 books? For me that's a perfect number but I thought that there could be 7 books too in order to use the title. Don't you have enough stuf to tell?
3. On Google play store I found a book wich is told to be published in November: https://play.google.com/store/books/details/Peter_Lerangis_Seven_Wonders_5_Seven_Wonders_Book?id=Ih46CQAAQBAJ&hl=de
Is this the SW Journal? Because there is anothe book which seems to be the 5th book --> 8.03.2015. Which one is the right? I think the second one, but what is the one I send the link about?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Dario
Admin Reply:
Hi, Dario! Good to hear from you. Here you go:
1. Yes, there will!
2. I was originally going to do seven books, but the story took a different shape as I was writing it. Sometimes stories have lives of their own, and this one was reaching an amazing climax at the five-book mark. I figured, why not go with that?
3. That information is wrong.

Peter, I have noticed something about the Holts.
All of them have names like someone important in USA!
Here are the names:
(Dwight D.) Eisenhower Holt
Mary Todd (Lincoln) Holt
(James) Madison Holt
(Ronald) Reagan Holt
And lastly, (Alexander) Hamilton Holt!
Was this intentional?

My 12 year old daughter was given the first book of your Seven Wonders series last week. She was hooked! She tore through the books at the rate of one per day, the only thing that slowed her down was getting our hands on the next book! Until, book 4...she is desperate to know what's going to happen next! We scoured the internet to find out if there was another book. She said it can't end this way! "It's a horrible cliff hanger and everything is in ruin!" She cried.
I found your page and I see the last book is due out 2016. Is there any updated information on it's release? Is there an opportunity to preorder? Could we get a signed copy of the last book?
We have immensely enjoyed your books! Thank you for writing them!
Admin Reply:
Hello, Theresa. Ohhhh, I am so sorry to have upset your daughter with that cliffhanger! But have no fear, Book 5 is on the way. You’re right, the publication date is early 2016.  I believe it will be March, but possibly February.  And it will be the final book of the series — so no more cliffhangers.  Unfortunately it’s too early to pre-order, but as soon as that changes, I will post links on my website (this page).  And also on the [pl-popup content="http://www.sevenwondersbooks.com/books" title="Seven Wonders official site" width="1000" height="640"]Seven Wonders site[/pl-popup].  In the meantime, I would be delighted to sign a copy of any and all of your daughter’s book(s).  If you don’t mind, please contact me at this email address for details.   Thanks so much for your kind words.  I’m delighted you’ve enjoyed the series!

hello Peter Lerangis my name is nick and i am doing an assignment for my class but i can't find information i need. for my assignment i need to know what influenced you into writing books. i also need to know the Publication Information of your book seven wonders rise of the colossus. i need to know the City it was published in, the Date it was published, and i also need the Company Name of the people who published it. i would appreciate it if you took time out of your day to answer my question.
Admin Reply:
Hi, Nick!  I’ll do better than tell you the information.  I’ll tell you how you can find this info for every book you will ever read in your lifetime.  At the beginning of any book, you will see a copyright page that has the things you need.  If you’re doing a report on COLOSSUS, I’m thinking you have a copy of the book, so check that out.  If you don’t have a copy, you can find the information pretty easily with Google or Amazon.
As for what influenced me, well, I was the oldest kid in my family, and I liked to entertain my younger siblings and cousins with stories, imitations, etc., so I was always a storyteller.  One day I read a story called “To Build a Fire,” by Jack London, a survival tale set in the Arctic, and it was so vivid that I started shivering with cold on a hot summer night.  I found that experience so powerful.  I began thinking I wanted to do THAT someday.  I read a lot.  I loved Edgar Allen Poe’s writing, Ray Bradbury, Dr. Seuss.  I loved science fiction a lot.  It took me a long time to believe in myself enough to try writing professionally, but I’m really glad I did.

Dear Peter,
I am 12 year old Maria, and absolutely love The Seven Wonders w/ journals. Especially The Select. I've read the journal of Burt, it was full of mysteries. The way you wrote the Note To Reader; the two last paragraphs, deeply interested e. I actually felt like this was a very old book and I'm one of those people who 'learn some secrets-secrets some people might not want you to know'.
When Burt's journal ended like this-'The birds have silenced. Something must e nearby. I will attempt to bury this now for safe keeping, for I think I hear-'. I was like: 'WHAT?! NOOOO! DONT END NOW!!' Though I didn't really said it out loud. Now my question is: Is there or have you written a continuation of the Select If you did write one, is it out?
I really loved it, and I thank my lucky stars for bringing me to this book. It was in the book sale portion of national books store where there were tons of books looking like they've been abandoned. When I read the story details I immediately placed it on the stack of books I was gonna buy. And I thought 'How could an amazing book like this be buried in a flood of sale books? Even if this was published two years ago, if I was the manager I would put it in a shelf people could see quickly.'.
I love reading and these books (the seven wonders), are top one in my lists of Best Adventure Books. I haven't read the others yet cause The Seven Wonders Journals of The Select and The Orphan was the only one I found. But I know I'll love them too.
If you dont mind, can I ask some more questions?
Here they are if you'll answer them:
Is there already a continuation of the journal of Daria of The Orphan? 2. How did you found out about the G7W gene in The Select? Or is it just you who made it. I 3. Can you give some tips about writing and such? 4. What is the most scrumddilyumptious CHOCOLATE in your opinion? 5.(this is the last one, dont worry.) If I would send you a fan mail to where would I send it to?
Sorry if I asked to many and that my message is too long. But if dont want to answer some of them it's definitely okay! I really love your books and it even inspired me to write stories too. Im writing some at the moment and your books really helped me to get my mind of some stuff. Thanks for reading this and answering my questions. d really want to get my book copy signed, although I live very far away from New York. Asia. Philippines, to be exact.
May God bless you and may your lucky stars watch over and guide you.

Hello, Maria!  Thanks so much for this note.  I am really glad you found that book, and I will have to come back out to the Philippines someday and take those books out of the bargain bin and put them on the shelves!!  As for a sequel to THE SELECT — well, not exactly, but the events in THE COLOSSUS RISES tell about what happened afterward.  Of course I can answer your other questions.  But I’ll mix the order a bit.  Here goes:
1. Is there already a continuation of the journal of Daria of The Orphan?
You’ll find Daria in Book 2: LOST IN BABYLON.
2. How did you found out about the G7W gene in The Select? Or is it just you who made it. I
It’s all from my crazy imagination.
4. What is the most scrumddilyumptious CHOCOLATE in your opinion?
       Dark.  Caramel!  Yummmm!
5.(this is the last one, dont worry.) If I would send you a fan mail to where would I send it to?
Write me at peter@peterlerangis.com and I will reply with a mailing address.
3. Can you give some tips about writing and such?
Here’s some advice I usually give people who are serious about writing books:     1. You have to want it more than anything else in the world. You have to be the kind of person who doesn’t settle for no.     2. Reading voraciously — all the time — is the single best training to become a writer.     3. It helps to be intensely curious about how your favorite authors make their work so good. What kind of words do they use? What kind of words do they leave out?     4. You need to practice. Like a musical instrument or a sport, writing gets better with constant work. Write some things for yourself, pieces that no one else sees. Also write stories that you show to people you respect — teachers, librarians, parents, siblings, other authors, etc. Listen to their feedback. Learn to recognize useful and useless feedback. Useful feedback is your best friend, even though it may feel painful.     5. You must collect ideas. Write them down. A pad or a writer’s notebook is great, but anything will do, even a receipt or a scrap of paper. Collect your ideas from conversations, things you observe in everyday life, dreams, other books and movies, etc. When you have a bunch of them, read them over and decide which is the best. Which one makes you the most excited? Start working on that one. If you like it, chances are your readers will too.     6. You need to recognize that the stakes in your story must be super-high. Even in stories about everyday life, there must be some dilemma that seems impossible to solve, something the readers will hang on to until the very end.     7. Regarding step 6, think hard about what you want to leave out of your story. That’s the thing that will pull your readers in.     8. Live life to the fullest. It’s easier to write compelling stories if you’ve experienced compelling events in your life.     9. Don’t worry about getting published right away. Almost no one is published at a super-young age, and that’s OK.     10. Did I say practice?     11. Practice.

Oregon Episcopal School you say? Hmmm. I saw them at my school's last track meet and during volleyball and basketball season. (My friends say I'm too healthy with all the sports and too busy with everything else I do: drama, piano, extra homework, writing short stories and books. I guess we know why my room is messier than Jack's.)They are in the same league as my school. And I've never been to Powells books in Beaverton, but I occasionally go to volleyball things at the Courts in Beaverton. I always go to the Barnes and Noble's store in Clackamas or the Book Warehouse in Troatdale. (Since I live in the Troatdale area) It's a small world after all. It's so weird to hear people who don't live in Oregon to talk about the places that are so familiar to me. Especially because everyone pronouces Oregon wrong. Even my grandma who lives outside of Oregon, pronounces it "Orrygone". Just so you and everyone who reads this knows, it's pronounced "Organ" like the slimy things in your center. Sorry I just had to tell you that creepy coincidence with your visit to the Oregon Episcopal School. Also I have to admit that I couldn't get through the 39 Clues series. I got to the book after the Sword Thief (I loved yours and Jude Watson's books though. She is such a great author. I fell in love with her novel Loot because of the plot) and stopped because I'm sorry but I just think that many books with those characters for so long... No, I don't really like to read series with more than eight or ten books unless they have emosewa DRAGONS. Adding a dragon to a book instantly makes it 15X better! (Remember that one) Sorry I like talking about books and writing a lot. Danke!!!!!! (that's the only thing I know how to say in German…and cow)
Admin Reply:
Well … danke zurück!  If “cow” is “Kuh” in German, I wonder if “moo” is “muh.”  Maybe we’ll never know.  Thanks for writing back.  I’ll be thinking of dragons.

Suprisingly, I FORGOT to put some things in my last message. Whoops! Anyways, I finally(after a lot of deliberation) decided on a title for my book! (: I'm pretty proud I found the right words for it: The Divination Game. Has a nice ring doesn't it? It gives me dorky shudders every time I say it or type it. I am also estatic about the chapter names, but you probably don't want me to write something as long as my last message to tell you all of the emosewa titles. Also, hsidrawkcab deretsam yltsom I kniht I. My friends are reallly annoyed by this especially because they know what it's from. Oh and I am wondering when you might want to come near Oregon. I would love it if you visited my school, but I don't think my school would love it if you visited my school. I go to a small Christian school in near east Portland and fantastical reading is looked down upon by the teachers and some of the students. (not exactly in a mean way though) My grammar teacher is the exception because she told me that as long as you understand that what you're reading isn't real, it's ok to read it. But that's not the point of this rant I'm doing. Do you visit high schools? Because next year I am going to Sandy High School and would still love to go to one of your events. and also I had a spelling error thing in my last message. I meant as my when I said amy. I forgot the space. much obliged, (Because I need to say something other than 'thank you' since I am wearing out the word) Peyton
Admin Reply:
Nice! As a title, I think The Divination Game is gnizama ylpmis, so shudder dorkily with impunity. I hope to travel to Oregon for my Book 5 tour in 2016.  I probably won’t visit any high schools, but I’d most likely do a bookstore event open to the public.  Btw, I was there in 2012, touring for THE DEAD of NIGHT, where I visited the Alameda School, the Oregon Episcopal School, and I did a signing at Powell’s Books Beaverton. I also posted this blog entry, which includes a pretty funny video.

Hello again, I just wanted to say thank so much for all your help. It was really helpful, the help. And I wanted to apologize for my misunderstanding annoying question about the query letters. Strangely, a day after I sent you my last message, I found this really thorough advice on Susan Dennard's website where she goes through the step by step process of getting published. So then I went back to this website and read my message again and saw the dumb question I asked you and I face slapped myself that I was a dork who can't talk to people without messing something up.
So again, I apologize for you having to patiently answer my repetitive questions.
I am writing this again actually because I was about to click Submit when a pop up add popped up in front of the button and my computer gliched. ):
So when I cam back to your site I found out that it didn't work. It's ok though I mostly put the gist of my overlong meaningful message in this new "Modified" message.
So as far as my progress on getting published is going: 0% of 0. I don't think my book is even ready for an agent to look at so I am planning on doing all the revising over the summer and maybe in the months following. I am set up for success in revising because I practically have a line of people who want to read the finished product and are willing to give me advice on how to make it better. I am even trying to start a writing group with other people I know that are writing short stories and/or books. I tell myself and other people who have started writing at my school (I started a trend for once!) not to give up to just keep moving because when I finished my book it was like a breath of air after a long time being underwater. We're just still underwater if they/me haven't finished the writing thing. For me, it's revising and publishing. If I give up or stop moving I drown. (metaphorically) When I feel like I want to give up, because like all writers I have bad days for writing, I start hearing that Disney song from the Princess and the Frog, Almost There. And to turn it off so it doesn't play in my head all day giving me guilt that I have come so far and I want to give up now I have to sit back down at my computer and star at the blank page before me. Because if I sit there long enough, something will happen.
I'll go out on a limb here and say you probably have days like this too. I could be wrong thought. But you have a different pressure because you have already published four books. All writers need to keep the fire burning because amy dad and also Jack say "It isn't over until the fat lady sings."
Thanks again,
Peyton (Or someone who happens to wear rainbow socks and
obtain a cool nickname)
Admin Reply:
Hi, Peyton. Yes, I do have days like that, all the time. Sounds to me like you were born to be a writer. Keep staring at that blank screen. It is always the prelude to magic.
