Dear Mr. Lerangis,
I really enjoyed your visit at our school. While you were telling us about how you are inspired to get your ideas, you inspired me to write a series or a even just a book! Thanks for that so much! In class right now, we're learning about how to write great fiction stories to grasp someone's attention. Thanks for giving me inspiration.

Hi, Macayla!  It’s not a bother at all!  That’s why I have the Guestbook.  I enjoy answering questions.  It’s great readers like you who make it possible for writers to create books!

Hi Peter! On Saturday, the e-book version of THE COLOSSUS RISES was in the #2 spot in the Children's section of the Amazon Kindle store. I noticed because I blog at www.KidsEbookBestsellers.com where I compose a weekly top ten list from the most popular e-book stores. If you'd like to be featured in an interview, contact me at info [at] KidsEbookBestsellers [dot] com. It’s easy – you pick the questions you like. Congratulations on your success!

Hi, Karleen! Sure, send away. Actually, believe it or not, I think the book rose to #1 for awhile, which leaves me pretty much flabbergasted! Looking forward to hearing from you via email!

Hello Mr. Lerangis! I listened to you speak today at the Iola High School (April 25th, 2014) and I was one of the Middle School Teenagers that you gave a medal to. I was so excited to meet you. I love the 39 Clues series but am also sad because I started reading them, and then found out our Library doesn't supply books after about the 6th one. I also like the idea of your 7 Wonders books. I would love to read them sometime.
I was wondering if it would be possible that you could try to arrange something with Iola Middle/High Schools to get more of those books? I know its a lot to ask, but you are such an inspirational writer, and I love your books! They are full of such suspense that I don't want to put them down, and I love that! I never, and I mean never, finish a book if it doesn't grab me from the start, and your book have always been ones I've finished! THANK YOU! -Macayla, 8th Grade, Iola Middle School

Thank you so much, Macayla!  I’m really glad you enjoyed the books.  I don’t have copies of the 39 Clues books besides my own, so your library will have to order them from Scholastic.  Have you asked your librarian?  Maybe they can add those books to their budget for the next order.  I hope so!
Daniel Valadez wrote on April 22, 2014 at 2:47 AM
Hey, my name is Daniel. I wanted you to know that i think your seven ponerse series is just wonderful. P.D. how do you put the dragones in the seven wonders serie? Is it like digital drawing or just a photocopy or sth?
Admin Reply:
Hi, Daniel!  Thank you very much!   To tell you the truth, I don’t do any of the art in my books.  I’m a terrible artist!  Seriously.  So my publisher finds someone else to do it.  They make the paintings (for the cover) and the sketches (for the interior), and then they make digital files.

Peter, My 11 year old son absolutely adores your series. He has bugged me every day to make sure I have pre-ordered book 3 coming out in May. I just want to thank you for writing something that has reached my son that has never been interested in reading or learning about anything. By the way, please come to Texas when you do your tour. He would love to meet you!!
Thanks, Amanda
Admin Reply:
Hi, Amanda!  Thanks you so much for writing.  Reading this really lifts my day.  While the May–June tour does not include Texas, I love visiting your state and have been there four times in recent years, so perhaps for the March 2015 tour.  Fingers crossed.  (Also, I do school visits independent of tours, so feel free to suggest that your son’s teacher or librarian contact me via the Author Visits link above.

Mr. Lerangis, I'm writing in hopes that you may be willing to help my middle school's summer reading program. Our school in Burlington, IA, Aldo Leopold Middle School, is an at-risk school who is trying to build a climate of energetic readers. This year we really pushed some reading interventions and saw some nice gains in our students and we are hoping to continue that progress over summer. However, we also know many students will not read unless they are encouraged and that's where I'm hoping you could help. We have established a big summer reading program with 70 books we are encouraging our students to read. We know realistically many of them won't come close to that total but for every five books they read we are entering their name in a drawing for prizes. Would you be willing to donate anything to our prize cache? Our students love your books, I see copies of The Seven Wonders and 39 clues books in their hands daily. Anything you may be wiling to contribute would be welcomed and if this isn't possible please know we already appreciate your contribution to our world of literature. Sincerely, Michael Carper

Hi Mr Lerangis,
I know this is kind of a weird question but how do you get rid of writer's block? Kinda experiencing it now. (*Sigh*)
Thanks again!
Ekta
Admin Reply:
Hi, Ekta!  Sorry to take so long to write back.  Hope the block went away by itself.  If it’s any consolation, ALL writers suffer writer’s block.  The big secret is, the only way out of writer’s block is to write.  Sometimes chocolate helps.  Or a solitary walk.  Sometimes ideas come when you give yourself some time away from the project.  But really the only way to get through it to sit yourself down until the words come.  It’s not easy, and you stare and stare at the screen, feeling lowly and empty.  But if you give yourself enough time, without distraction, something always happens.  At first you may only be able to jot down a sentence or two, but the next time you start, the words flow freer.

Dear Mr. Lerangis, I just wanted to ask what the 'V' symbol on the back of the children's heads and on the book cover of The Colossus Rising meant.
Thank you, Kathryn Delwiche
Admin Reply:
Hello, Kathryn!  Thanks for writing.  It’s actually an upside-down V (Λ), which the same shape of the Greek letter L, or lambda.  It’s a mark of the G7W gene.  The significance of it is still a mystery … 🙂

Hello,
I am a fourth grade teacher in Highlands Ranch, CO. We received your second book of Seven Wonders in the fall of this year. A group of 11 students have just started reading it and can't put it down.
I am wondering if the students could Skype with you? This is the first time I am approaching this but thought it would be a great experience for them to learn about what it takes to be a writer and what has inspired you. I am thinking about 15 minutes at the least. If Skyping does not work with the group, would it be possible to do an e-mail?
I know you are busy especially with publishing your third book of the series!
Our school year ends on May 28th. Thanks for your consideration and providing literature that students get mad at me about when I tell them to it is time to stop reading. 🙂

Hello, Debbie!  Highlands Ranch?  Really?  I LOVE Highlands Ranch.  I had such a great time visiting the Tattered Cover about a year ago.  My tour is coming up soon so things are tight, but this may work.  Let’s continue this conversation by email.  I will send a message directly, OK?

Hi, Mr. Lerangis (I'm brazilian so my english isn't so good),
I'd like to know when the book Lost in Babylon is going to be here in Brazil. I've already read the first one and, as I said, my english isn't good enough to read a book in english. I loved the story and the character!
Thanks, Marco (One of the book's character).

Marco — awesome name!  The International department at HarperCollins tells me it will be available in July 2014.  Thank you for asking!

Dear Tito Peter,
Can you grant wishes? One of my lifetime dreams is being a character of a book written by another author. Can you help me reach my dream please? I will love you forever if you can insert me as another character in your Seven Wonders series (be it on book 4 etc) Thank you very much! I will give you a basketful of chocolates xD
Your friend, Rein
P.s. It's A-OK if you decline 🙂

I can't wait to see our suave Janus relative here in 'nila again! Haha 😀 P.s. I made an anagram for Book 3! It shall be called Hot Womb of Hades St. (St. = Street) Hahahaha! I’m happy to be called Tito and will remain so until the time when I’m called whatever name is reserved for “extremely old dude.”  Your anagram is priceless!  I too hope to return to Manila.

Hi Mr. Lerangis,
I forgot to ask this, did Dan have a crush on Natalie? I just remeber him giving her a compliment in the Sword Thief. Thanks again for answering my last entry, it's always a pleasure to talk to you, virtually! 🙂 🙂
Cheers,
Ekta
Admin Reply:
It’s a pleasure for me, too.  No, I don’t believe Dan has a crush on Natalie.  If he did, it was short-lived.

Hello! It's me again, Ekta. How many languages can Ian speak? Also which part of India is he from?(I live there) Thanks so much for confirming my last theory! 🙂 🙂

Hello again. Ekta!  As far as I know, the foreign languages Ian speaks are English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian.  There may be one or two others.  I’m not sure exactly from where in India he hails, though.
